If this game doesn't look epic, I don't know what does. I think the last time a videogame COMMERCIAL looked this impressive was in '97 for FF VII.

Im pumped. I pre-ordered the collectors edition back in May. I'm gonna be locked in my room for like a month when I get my copy. Actually, I've been pumped for 2 years.

My pre-order receipt is dated December, 2002!

Looks ok. Hated so many things about the first one but I hope they were addressed in the second one.

Played a bit of the leaked copy, very impressive. Dual guns are just wicked kewl. The game is so very smooth and polished, everything just feels right. Can't wait to pick this up.

Are the levels as repetitive and the car as impossible to control?

You'll have your Echoes, don't worry.
Cool trailer. Despite the repetitiveness, I liked the first one—especially the multiplayer. But on the computer.

I played about 20 mins of it in multiplayer so I can't say. It was only enough time to get a general feel for the game.
Yes, Halo 1 was dreadful in parts... there were times I felt like "didn't I already play this level??" Never had any problems controlling the vehicles though.

yes, but unfortunately, since every magazine is masturbating to Halo 2 (hell, even Wired did like a five page spread on it) i can't see or read anything about it. or Prince of Persia 2. or Viewtiful Joe 2.

It's because you did... You went out then trekked back to where you started out.
I also never had any problems with the vehicles...

Halo was one of those games that I just couldn't put down. I had finals the week I got it, and I played it for 2 days non-stop. The only time I had a similar gaming experience was with Starcraft, or SimCity 2000. I loved the story, vehicles, everything. This should be a very cool game if it makes it to the mac (cough.. IF, because of the huge pirating problem it faced on it's release to the Mac)
Does anyone know? Has it been confirmed for Mac?

I'm not seeing anything new. Now I loved Halo but it wasn't exactly a ground-breaking FPS.

It was the first FPS I played that integrated vehicles really well.
Limiting the player to 2 weapons was a gamble that paid off (similar limitations used in tactical FPS games before but I don't think they were done as well).
I didn't see beatdown used elsewhere.
Instant grenades were a great feature that I didn't see anyone else doing.
Giving the player a slowly recharging shield was another thing I didn't see anyone else do, and it really gave the player some latitude in trying different tactics.
Vehicle jacking looks to be another great first. When you jump MC has legs now (don't think anyone else has done that). Dual weilding, while not a first, looks well done and more balanced than I've seen and used in other games.
More innovations than I've seen in a lot of other big name FPS games.

Still it doesn't feel very different. Sure its good but no part of it is really unique (except perhaps vehicles). Consider the YEARS of hype. The slowly recharging shield seemed a bit silly to me. All it does it force you to leave combat and recharge or be as tactical as possible.
Dual wielding is nice but I always found that to be too stiff.

I had problems with the vehicles in the first one for about 10 minutes. Then I finally got that you don't point to correct the front of the vehicle, you point where you want to go, and the vehicle corrects itself. Very easy once you get that.
I LOVED multiplayer Halo. Damn, I'm considering getting an Xbox just so I can play with other people on campus. Gonna be cool.

Now if only I owned an xbox.... or I could wait three or four years and have the slight chance of it being out for my Mac.

Bungie admits that Halo is a sequel to Marathon:
While reading the new November issue of XBN (the Halo2 one), I noticed a very interesting quote from The Man(Alex Seropian, co-founder of Bungie) himself. The quote isn't from the Halo2 singleplayer article, but from an article on the making of Halo1.
The article reads, '...But for Seropian, it all starts with Marathon...What they [Marathon players] didn't know is that the character they were playing was the very first incarnation of Master Chief... "I don't think you ever find that out, but it's the same character," Seropian says. "God, we've never said that before, but it's completely obvious. Cortana isn't in Marathon, but there are three A.I.s in there that came from the same stylistic story line." '
So there it is - Halo's an official Marathon sequel.
