Mods: If this is inappropriate, please lock, but I thought some of the MacNN'ers would be interested.
There is a $150 off rebate coupon for Amazon, which means the 12" 1.2 GHz iBook is only $850. That's $100 less than the edu price. The coupon is good until Nov. 21.
As far as I can tell though, it doesn't work in Canada.

Sweet Deal. I'd like to retire my original Powerbook G4 for one of these though I'd hate to lose the screen rez.
Anyone know if the optical drive can be easily swapped out on these? Eventually I'd like to put a Superdrive in it.

It's worth noting that these are for the previous generation iBooks, but still a good deal.
Also, CDW is selling the previous generation iBooks at a discount, plus a free airport extreme card.

My pismo's been dead for almost a year now, and I really need a computer at home... very tempting…

No it's the current model.
Apple iBook Notebook 12" M9623LL/A (1.2 GHz PowerPC G4, 256MB RAM, 30GB Hard Drive, Combo Drive, Built-in AirPort Extreme)
Price: $999.99
Mail-In Rebates: $150.00
Price After Rebates: $849.99
EDIT: Hmmm... the form is for a different model, but the website clearly says the new model also gets a rebate.
EDIT again:
Rebate Center
Step 1. Print the rebate forms now: Read the rebate details below, under "Current Rebates": If the text indicates the rebate is "(in-box)," you will find the form enclosed in the product packaging when it arrives to you. If instead you see a rebate form below, print that rebate form now, since it may not be included in the product packaging. Rebate forms appearing below will remain on this page for a limited time. ( More about mail-in rebates.)
Step 2. Submit: When your order arrives, fill out the rebate forms and mail to the address on the form. Be sure to include all materials required on the form (UPC, receipt, etc.).
Step 3. Wait: In 6-8 weeks your rebate will arrive by mail.
Current Rebates
Redeem the following mail-in rebate for a total savings of $150.00:

I wonder if Amazon just made a mistake, because I can't find a rebate form anywhere for the new 1.2 GHz iBook 12". However, everywhere that computer is mentioned, it says there is a $150 rebate.
Just goes to show you, rebates are a PITA.
EDIT:
The rebate form for the new iBooks is here.

EDIT:
The rebate form for the new iBooks is here.
Went to the ibooks covered on the form but its no longer on the site.
Only rebate I find is one for an older model. What the deal amazon?
I assume though, since it is mentioned on the rebate coupon that is should still be good.

Still here. In fact, that image is linked right in the post of mine you quoted.
