Wow, what the hell is wrong with people? Amazing story though. Guess it shows that education about 911 is working, at least.

of course.. there's those women in the sinking car the other day - decided to call their friends instead of 911. Not that it would've mattered...

Violence is hardly a new trait among civilized people. You simply hear about it more often due to well established networks of communication.

The phrase "What the hell is wrong with people?" still fits nicely though.

damn ... that's a trip. any follow up on what happened? that dad should get life in prison .. death sentence would be too easy on him. he needs that fear of getting shanked while in jail ... nothing worse than living under the fear of a gruesome death at any moment while in prison ..

A few weeks ago, a young man dialled 000 for an ambulance as his mother had collapsed. The number rang out 2 times, and she had a heart attack and died before he could get help.

What a very brave young boy. So sad.

Thought I might reply to myself and point out that it was in Australia, and 000 is the same as 911 here.

That's the first thing I thought as well. He obviously didn't do it to get his kid some help, he just tried to kill him. Maybe he was just crazy....
