Lift your Right Foot off the floor.
Rotate it in a clockwise direction for about 10 seconds...

While your foot is spinning, use your Right Hand to
draw an invisible 6 in the air...

Involuntarily, and quite immediately, your Right Foot
will begin a counter-clockwise spin,
and there's nothing you can do about it.

Simple Empire...

Same here. Takes a bit of concentration, that's all.

No effect on me whatsoever. I'm sure I've just made an idiot of myself, but at least nobody was here to see it

Wow, I am soooo special - I am the only one who has a problem doing a clockwise spin with his foot while trying to do a counter clockwise spin with his finger!
(I hope you guys don't do this in slow-mo? 'cause slow-mo isn't a problem for me either!)

I had some trouble for the first try or two, but then it cleared right up. It takes concentration, but it's doable.

It has a lot to do with how you write your six.

If you start from the top, where that finger is pointing, you're effectively doing a counter-clockwise circle, hence the difficulty in coordination. Some can overcome this either naturally or thru practice.

If you usually write your six starting at the loop, go clockwise around and up (ending where the finger is in that graphic), as I myself do, you will have little or no difficulty in most cases.

When I had someone try this on me, and succeeded on the first try, they considered it "cheating" since that's not how you're really supposed to write a six. Whatever. I've always written differently than what they attempted to teach me in school. When people see me write, they remark that I write "backwards" since i usually start a letter where it usually ends.

So with that said, does that mean this trick of sorts is popular only because a large majority of people write their six that way?

Yes, it does change direction cool!

The only way I was able to get it not to, was to really concentrate. But then, my circle with my foot was not really a circle. Second try it was a square, gave up on third cus I got lazy and frustrated.

Anyways, I noticed that control of either my hand or foot was very sporadic, as I noticed that my attention wasn't divided between the two, but just switching very fast.

It suggests to me, that the movement of our body is largely automatic, and that above it all we are just telling the things below a general goal. So, our foot and hand were working towards the same goal.

I also tried it the other way. Drawing the 6 first, then circling my foot once I got to the loop in the six.

Just trying to draw alternating directed circles with my foot and finger proved just as difficult. Thinking of it as two sub goals (half circles), allowed me to do it more smoothly.

Coolio!! Our brains are so limited!
