Hmmm...
Director Quentin Tarantino says he's planning a kung-fu film with all the dialogue in Mandarin Chinese and out-of-sync English dubbing in homage to many such films in the past.

"Hmmm" indeed!
Won't it be terribly mafan for him doing a movie without understanding a word of the actors/dialogue???

It would be gongfu then, not kung-fu.

I read that blurb this morning, sounds to me like he's getting behind on "Inglorious Bastards" and wants to strike the kung-fu market while he's got the "Kill Bill" momentum.

brandon, I had said it would be a pain for him to make a Chinese movie, but Tarantino had a few parts in Kill Bill that weren't in Chinese. Oisin then responded:

OK. Hmm...
"Two areas, that part in Japan, and also that part in China (.......). However, in these two parts, ....... can speak English, if.... goes to China to make a movie completely in Mandarin, that will be like it won't be...."
Please help with the rest of the translation... P.S. How do you enter the Chinese characters?

First off, the smiley wasn't meant to be there - that's what happens when you forget to put a space before the ending parenthesis...
Secondly, entering the Chinese characters is very simply - just change your keyboard layout to Chinese (which should be a piece of cake), and type away. The forum automatically converts the characters to #&something; entities.
And what I meant was, "You mean two parts, right? The one in Japan, but also the one in China (the one with Pai Mei [白眉]). But in these two parts, the actors could probably all speak English too; if he goes to Mainland China, he probably won't have this advantage anymore"
(混汀·塔伦蒂诺 (Hùntīng Tălùndìnuò) is Quentin Tarentino in Chinese)

For a minute I thought it was going to be completely in Mandarin (sans subtitles/dubbing) and I thought "wow, he really has gone off the deep end", but since he'll include some hilariously bad dub work, I'm enthused.
