...but an ad for Windows XP on the front page is just a little too... unsavory for my tastes.

Yeah yeah, I know, but it was more of just a general thought, a conversation starter if you will, than a complaint I wanted addressed. I unistalled pith helmet, so now I'm seeing all those banner ads that I never had to look at before.

I never see the banner ads on most pages; not because I have anything to block them, I just subconsciously tune them out.
I only ones I register seeing are those which are inserted into an article I'm reading.

Be glad that you don't have ads of (shoot) the idiot on his cell phone in the theater...while your browsing experience is constantly interrupted by the sound of a cell phone going off every 2 seconds.

The "shoot the outlaw" one is the coolest. If you click around him, you can shoot without it clicking the link.

The shoot ones are so stupid. There is one where no matter where you click "you win".

Anybody actually get their free iPod?

I do love the Adblock extension for Firefox. I can block out the flash ads, the ones embedded in iframes and even the google text ads. On the sites I frequent that have annoying banners, I block out all ads on that specific site.

I actually liked the bee banner, but hated the cockroach one.

The worst of all, are the ones that either start talking to you or make some other kind of noise.
