Hello
I need to replace my Aiwa CDC-MP32 (MP3-playing deck). It was a good unit while it lasted (3 years), but the mechanized flip-face caused a connector to break. Now it is un-useable, until I find time to fix it (months).
Now I am researching on _CHEAP_ MP3 players for cars, and I am torn between these two models:
Boss BOS-MP3-3130R
Jensen MP5620
Which brand is the lesser evil? Which is going to sound better?
Can you recommend a car MP3 player that will cost $149 or less?

been thinking about the same thing myself...there is an Aiwa out at Circuit City for $89. It has a front 1/8" input port so you can play aux sources (ipod/whatever) w/o having to mess around with the iTrip or other broadcast type devices.
I've had an iTrip and can't ususally find clean station/dial space to use it, or if I do, and start driving it is a question of time before you run into another station....not bad if you live outside a densely populated (radio station) metro area though...
good luck, and post back if you like whatever you get...

Too expensive. I had got mine in Circuit City 3 years ago at $150, but now they are very expensive ($250) for some reason.

Strange, I got one for 180 euros which includes 21,5% VAT. And they have cheaper models. Mine even plays MP3 (I don't use that function tough).

I don't have an iPod, and probably will not get one this or the next year. I am not big into music, but I became used to MP3 CD players.
I just snatched the JVC KD-G300 from Circuit City at $127

There is no such thing as a cheap Alpine.

JVC KD-G300
It does most of the stuff my old Aiwa did, plus some nice features
The characters are not bitmapped. They are ugly seven-segment-lcd type
The flip-face is not electromechanical. It is has a removable face
MP3 disc playing lag is minimal. On the Aiwa, you had to wait 20 seconds to start listening to a new MP3 CD.
 Better MP3 navigation buttons
 FM tuning is faster
Better volume control: click-wheel instead of up-down buttons
 Less bling bling appearance
