This photo is of myself with some guys from my high school orchestra about 6 months before the trade center was attacked. A friend found this photo while cleaning out his desk and sent it to me. Make me kinda sad to think that I'll never be able to see New York like that again.

Yah... they really defined the skyline. It's just not the same. I'm sure there will be new great buildings, but it's like taking down the Washington Monument in DC.

Here's one that I took on my 4th of July vacation about three months before the buildings were destroyed. I really loved those buildings.

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

Thanks to everyone for such nice pictures. It's a trip down memory lane. Many talk about looking to Manhattan and seeing a blank space.

they werent the prettiest ... but they were damn tall .. and loads of interior space ... not to mention .. they were ... just .. so damn dominating ... too bad it's gone ... and ... the replacement kinda blows ... kinda sorta hella blows ... i liked the concept that was in pop sci or pop mechanic ... forgot which .. with the twin twisted towers ... that concept was beautiful and modern ... this new one originally looked a bit like the liberty statue ... and has morphed (because of corporate concerns) into what looks like a nokia cell phone .. the 6160 ... with the antenna .. pff

Yeah, I can't say I completely agree with the new tower designs, but then again, I'm not in charge. The twisting tower design was super cool, I wish I had a copy of popular science to put a picture up here.

Since this thread seems to be about the loss of the buildings only, I hope it's safe to say that I would have been more pissed if they had taken down the Chrysler Building - in my opinion the most beautiful Skyscraper in NY!
