I leave in about 12 hours for a week long Fantasy Cruise with members of the 1984 Detroit Tigers. Should be a blast! Some of the activites with the players include Q&A sessions, cocktail hours, autograph sessions, 1984 world series screenings, etc. There are a couple downers; Tram, Gibson and Parrish won't be there as they are involved with winter ball. and one of the ports, Grand Cayman, is closed still because of all the hurrican damage. We will still port in Cozumel and Ocho Rios though. I'll be sure to have a few drinks for everyone.

See ya in a week!

That sounds very lame. Have fun!

I don't go on vacations. I find them very draining.

Did I mention that I recently returned from a "vacation" to the grocery store?

Good for you ResidentEvil. Some people just can't understand that someone might have interests different from their own. Don't let them spoil your fun. I am a bit of a sports fan myself and I could understand how going on vacation with some famous members of a historic world championship team would be a great time.

My dream vacation would also be a Caribbean cruise. The thing that would make it my dream cruise is if I could have my family and some friends go with me. The more the merrier!

If you decide to go backpacking next year don't juggle the campstove fuel tanks.

'84 Tigers on a cruise... Too bad Gibby won't be there - he talks so much sh1t about how he was a god back in the day, but it's funny to hear his stories. (He's my friend's uncle, so I've met him a few times.) I'm sure it'll be fun, especially if you're a Tigers fan.

Just got back, about 2 hours ago. Oh man, what a trip! I'll post more on it later, for those of you who asked questions. But for a quick breakdown:

Grand Cayman opened a few days before we set sail, so we were one of three ships back there after the hurricanes; many things still closed/destroyed/not open. Glad we were able to visit though.

Carnival, while a lot of fun, doesn't hold a candle to Royal Caribbean. Just my opinion.

The Caribbean was pretty cool, but don't know as I would cruise there again. I've seen it/done it now. Next cruise will be another 'north' trip (I've already done an Alaskan Cruisetour; 2 weeks!) I prefer the weather cool, to hot and humid!

Spent a lot of time with the Tiger's who made the trip (Petry, Evans, Hernandez and Berenguer) as there were only 30 of us in the group. Little disappointed in the group size and the number of players. but it made the quality time with each one better. (the trip was marketed with 12 players). But what can you do? If they couldn't get enough people to sign up for the group, they couldn't 'pay' the players to come. Just a fact of life.

The cruise ship was FULL and met a lot of fun people too, so the lack of Tiger's slowly faded as the booze and fun progressed.

More later (if anyone is interested). It is now laundry time, followed by bed time.

Glad you had a good time.

I love the kind of vacations where you have to get back to work to relax.

I simply keep track of my favorite sport teams, one if which is the Tiger's (who also by the way, have the longest running and largest fantasy camps in all of sports) and saw they were doing a fantasy cruise this year. Instead of playing baseball for a week with past and current members (which is a blast!) you get to interact on a more one on one basis with past players. Being it is the 20th anniversary of them winning the world series, it featured members of the 1984 Tigers. And no, I didn't get a break for being a season ticket holder or anything. I had to pay, in full, just like everyone else that would want to go.

Oh yeah. Seems I need at least 3 days to recoup after any vacation I take. This one I think will take longer as I still have a rocking feeling from the boat (had some rough seas for a couple of days) PLUS a lack of interest for booze. That better change soon damnit!
