I graduated back in May and have just been doing freelance web design over the summer while I interviewed for legit jobs. I didn't get anything I liked so far, so I'm going to take my luck to Florida this weekend. I figure "why not? - my skiis are busted anyways."

My cousin in Melbourne owns a realty firm and has a construction crew on the side. He said he'd hook me up with part time work until I find a career job. I'd be staying with him for the time being (on Merritt Island). If all goes well, I'll be in my own place with a legit job within 3 months. I'm going to be looking into financial/investment work (the old people in FL have lots of money). I'll always have real estate as a backup too.

So, where is a good area to live down there? If possible, I'd like to move down to W. Palm or Miami, but I have yet to learn Spanish (so it may be hard to get a job), and I'm pretty sure I'll have little money when I start off. I guess I just need advice on where to move to.

Also, who else lives in the Melbourne area from 'NN?

i've got friends in melbourne, nice town. it's a surf town sorta (if there can be one in florida), and the beach girls are all over. last time I was there The Purple Porpoise was a fun place to go, lotsa chicks, and there's some other place on the beach that did a super reggae night, tons of people.

funny, I've got two friends that live in Melbourne, and they're both in real estate. I'll try and check them out and see the state of things around there for such work.

buy a surfboard, a skateboard (there's a park or two), and work on your abs.

buy a duplex, and rent one half of it. and get at me if you come to ft. lauderdale/miami area.

thanks ice. I'm sure I'll be hanging out in Miami once I get my feet off the ground.

I think 'get my feet off the ground' is at a higher level than 'on the ground' : meaning, when I have money to blow in Miami. ie: coke, strippers, linen suits, models. With time, it will come.

bump.

I have been getting music together for the drive down and I stumbled across a cool 'nested playlist' idea at SmartPlaylists.com. Worth a look.
