Apple is inflating their discount figures in their refurb / special deals store. Quoting a discount against the original market price instead of the current price seems very shady.

Apple Certified PowerBook G4 12-inch TFT
PowerBook G4 1.33GHz/ 256MB/ 60GB/ Combo/ AP Extreme Card/ E/ 12-inch
Save 16% off the original price

Original price: $1,599.00
Your price: $1,349.00
Actual Current Price: $1,399.00

Translates to a real savings of $50, or 3.6%.

Here's something from Apple's "Special Deals" page:

iBook 14TFT/ 1.2GHz/ 256SD/ 60G/ Combo/ APX
Save 17% off the original price

Original price: $1,499.00
Your price: $1,249.00
Actual Current Price, with a FASTER 1.33 ghz processor: $1,299.00

Translates to a real "savings" of $50.

It's capitalism. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
But to come here and whine about it is lame.

Last I checked, a 12" 1.33 GHz Combo PowerBook cost $1599, not $1399.
I don't know where you're getting $1399 for a PowerBook from, save for the education store, which doesn't figure into the equation.
