I'm sure this has been brought up before but what's up with the "shoot the roach and get a free iMac" ads? I know you would have to do a lot crap to finish the surveys on these kind of sites but is it legit? Has anyone actually ever gotta the "free" stuff? How long did it take?

The thing is that I remember posters coming here with the links to free stuff and the thread being locked because it's spam. But Macnn has these kind of ads too. So, now I'm questioning the legitimacy since Macnn themselves have this stuff on the site.

Exhibit B: Earlier this week, mixin visuals posts this thread stating he/she just got an iPOD.

Got the iPod

This makes me wonder even more.

Punch the monkey, get a doughnut.

Just so this post has a more direct answer, you probably won't win anything clicking a banner. there's free stuff on the internet, but you have to sign yourself up for junk mail, and sometimes you have to get other people to do so as well.
