I can't believe there isn't a discussion about Eminem's new album yet. It was released Friday.

As far as overall impressions go, I love it. It is similar to Prince's Lovesexy album in that it is meant to be listened to in order in one sitting (the whole thing is suposed to be a single "show", a "special one time performance" as the cover/website say). It also reminds me of Pink Floyd's The Wall in the sense that it feels as if a story is being told. To anyone planning to purchase it, I would recommend listening to the alum before looking through the booklet or package artwork.

My only complaint is the rediculous price! It costs like $16 at Best Buy (which normally has dirt cheap prices on music), $19 at regular stores! Is Mr. Mathers trying to recuperate his lost money from bootlegging through his loyal fans? That's garbage. Maybe the price will go down when he releases the version without the bonus DVD. But then again, he compiled a DVD with early copies of his last album and didn't raise the price.

I started a thread about the album because I wanted to talk about the album. I posted in that other thread already- the topic is more tangental Eminem talk.

And I'm pissed about that Fry's news. O well.

I just listened to the 30s iTMS samples and it sounds great. I don't think he'll ever have anything better than "The Eminem Show" which was awesome... but this one's pretty cool as well.

First thing monday moring, I'm gonna get me that album at Saturn (13,99€) along with another quite nice one by Annett Louisan (which is German though). If they don't have'em I'll order it at Amazon.

It is on the iTMS (U.S. ver. anyway). I got up restless @ 0300 or so Friday and remembered it was the early release day. I downloaded it for the usual $9.99 and love it. I thought long & hard about paying more for the "real" disc & all, but figured after the weekend, it'd just sit on a shelf with the hundreds of others... So why wait?! iTMS is great for those spur of the moment purchases.

I was pissed @ first, thinking only the "Clean," Wal-Martized version was available at iTMS, but after a search, the "Explicit" version was found, as well. The version that comes up on the iTMS cover page is the clean version.

As someone hinted above, it's no "Eminem Show," but Encore is definitely worth a listen for his fans. Those who hate him still will.
