Anyone familiar with the Tivoli Audio Radio Two? I am looking for a radio that is under US$100. I know the Model Two runs US$160, but it looks ideal for what I want. Any suggestion other than the Tivoli?

I am thinking about getting one for my computer desk. I love the fact that it has a computer audio input so that you can hear the computer audio while listening to something else at the same time.

Really, all I need is a radio with a single audio/aux input that has good sound quality. I don't need a CD player or cassette player.

I thought about the Tivoli Model One, but I think I would prefer stereo over mono too much. But the price is good. About US$100.

All suggestions are highly welcome.

I already have that exact same setup. I'm trying to simplify.

Thanks for your suggestion though.

Nope, I already have a clock.

Off topic: Man are you irritating. Is that what you are looking for someone to say with your horrendous purposeful misspelling? Cause you're doing a GREAT job.

Tolerant of irritating idiots who misspell on purpose? Not very.

Now if it was because English was your second language, or you were an uneducated young person I would have cut you some slack.

But you just came off as immature and a jerk.

I found This one too by Boston Acoustics, the Recepter Radio. Looks cool. I need to get out and into a stereo shop and listen to these things. Anyone own one or the Tivoli models?

The Recepter does not have an aux input. I heard the Tivoli Model 1 at and audio shop and it sounds pretty good for a radio. It should be fine for background music and talk radio.

Yep, I own the Model 1 Tivoli audio.

Go. Get. One. Now.

The sound is great and it really doesn't matter to me it's mono. I'd have bought the model 2 then. It takes little space, looks great and sounds even better. Totally analogue and simple. 10/10

Excellent! But.... maybe the Model two is worth that much more...

It's nice to hear someone with enthusiasm who owns one. I have read some good reviews but I wanted to hear from someone on here who has heard one or owned one.

The simplicity is exactly what I am after. And elegance. Something that I can keep out on my desk or book shelf for decades. Not like the plastic Sony or JVC models.

I'll have to call around the local stereo shops to see if anyone carries them now.

Oops, I missed that. Well that counts the BA Recepter out. Simple as that. Gotta have AUX input.

That's what I want the radio for, background music and talk radio. I just wanted something nicer than the rest of the crap out there. Thanks.

Have you considered a satellite radio? They are not for everyone, but they offer much better music selection.

I own the Tivoli model as in the first post. It's for the bathroom, and sound quality is much better than what we had. Reception was key for us, and with the wire extend up the corner of the wall it's better than the others we had before.

Downside I hear is that when listening to some talk radio the sound quality is highly dependent on someones voice. Broadcasters are trained to carry their voices, thus they are pretty clear, while people being interviewed aren't, and as a consequence some people come off as muffled to the point that I'll be able to hear only the interviewers, and the muffled response of the guests.

Otherwise a great buy.

Believe me, I know all about satellite radio. I have been called a XM fanboy on here before.

I have a Roady I listen to XM with. That's why I need the AUX input. I HATE FM modulation.

Thanks for the input though!

Why do you want an AM/FM receiver if you aren't going to listen to the radio, but plug your XM radio into the AUX input? Why not just get powered speakers?

Sometimes I listen to a local station that discusses local issues. And there's one college station I like to listen to in the evening when I get home from work.

We also only have the one subscription to XM and when I am at work with the XM receiver my wife doesn't have anything for music in our computer room/child's playroom. This is the big reason we want a nice desktop radio. We don't want two subs to XM.

I want a radio that will last a few decades and look good. Powered speakers look lame. Plastic and metal. The Tivoli has a nice solid wood look to it. That's one of the reasons I ruled the BA Recepter out. Plus this way I can get rid of my external computer speakers and plug the eMac directly into it. Less clutter.

Have you checked-out the Bose systems? We use the original Wave Radio in our living room and it's freaking amazing. In fact, we like it so much, I'm getting my wife the new one -- the Bose Wave Music System -- for Christmas to replace the original (it has a front loading CD, better bass response, etc.).

The Bose Wave Radio sounds good, but is like every other Bose product - over priced. The radio is $350.

Over-priced is relative. If you like something enough and you can buy it, then it's not over-priced.

It is overpriced for us. We are buying a radio as a Christmas gift to ourselves. We really wanted to keep it around US$100.

Thanks for the suggestion. I know a few friends with the Bose Wave Radio and they love them. I am not a fan of Bose stuff normally. But for a small radio those do sound good.

Well, we decided on the Tivoli Model Two. It's sitting under the christmas tree now.

The wife and I stopped at the local mom and pop stereo shoppe and had a listen.

Awesome. Simply awesome.

And it really was worth it to pay the extra and get the stereo model. But if space were an issue, then the Model One would have been excellent also.

We got it for US$150. The salesman knocked off $10 without even asking. He said it was because "You guys are good people". Plus I think he's trying to get us to come back and buy a HDTV that were were eyeing for quite a while.

I always try to avoid Best Circuit Buy City and go to these guys because they really know their stuff and take the time to make sure the products really matched what you really need.

Every other Bose product does not sound good for the money you pay, they jeopardize audio for size.
