Wow... thanks Texas.

Texas, where a horrible military defeat, is celebrated like it was win. (For those who don't remember the Alamo, please keep on not remembering it)

White trash, lazy, inbred stupid people. Texas no less.
First of all, I would have to say it takes a stupid person to make a comment like that. It may not be your idea of a good time, but hey, it's likely to make this man very popular and even very wealthy. Like it or not, Hunting is a sport and there ARE people out there that would have fun on his website. Your conclusion that anyone that would participate in this are White Trash, Lazy, Inbred Stupid people is totally ignorant. I know TONS of people here in Oklahoma and in Texas where I'm from that hunt, and they're FAR from being Rednecks, or stupid, or white trash, and several of them would find something like this, interesting. Just cause we live in the south, doesn't make us what you say... stereotyping is ignorant.

Texas, where a horrible military defeat, is celebrated like it was win. (For those who don't remember the Alamo, please keep on not remembering it)
Actually, having grown up in the San Antonio Educational System, I know for a fact that at least in SA, they don't celebrate the Battle of the Alamo as a military Win. It was one of the MAJOR turning points in our war against Mexico, sure it was a total loss, but 'Remember the Alamo' isn't a 'VICTORY' it's meant as a 'remember what happened here, and never forget those who lost their lives here fighting for Texas' freedom from Mexico'. Not once was it ever eluded to as a victory.

It's certainly not representing good sportsmanship.

Underwood, 39, said he will offer animal hunting as soon as he gets a fast Internet connection to his remote ranch that will enable hunters to aim the rifle quickly at passing animals.

He said an attendant would retrieve shot animals for the shooters, who could have the heads preserved by a taxidermist. They could also have the meat processed and shipped home, or donated to animal orphanages.
1. I hope they turn the rifle remote control off while the attendant is retrieving the animal, n'est pas?
2. Donate the dead animal to an "animal orphanage"? Is that some kind of sick joke?

Of course, it is the "We are not ignorant, you are" game right?

How is this a sport. My idea of a good time is putting idiots like you that would participate in something like this and taking a few shots with some other animal activists. Now if that is not your idea of a good time does that make you ignorant?

The original comment is a bit over the top, but sorry, this really is pretty stupid and people have good reason to call them on it. Hunting is a sport, but no real hunter would ever use the internet to do it! That's like letting people play PGA Golf on their Playstation to compete online in the real PGA Golf tournaments. It renders the "sport" meaningless.

Texas officials are not quite sure what to make of Underwood's Web site, but may tweak existing laws to make sure Internet hunting does not get out of hand.

He has proposed a rule that will come up for public discussion in January that anyone hunting animals covered by state law must be physically on site when they shoot.
It occurs to me that, IF you're gonna let pretty much everybody have a gun who wants one, it's probably a pretty good idea to require them to actually keep their guns nearby, in their possession, rather than entrusting them to strangers.

Isn't there such a law?

That would cover this, surely? This guy is basically renting his guns to people who do not then have them in their possession, since they aren't there.

Let's make no mistake here boys and girls...

This is NOT hunting. This is shooting. Big difference. You could probably do the same thing with skeet instead of the local wildlife.

What I've never quite understood is the deer hunter logic: "Aw, man, look at that handsome buck!" -- "OK, let's kill it!"

I mean, you see something beautiful, so your first instinct is to kill it?!?

I feel the same way tooki. I could never look into the eyes of a deer and shoot it. I'm a wuss that way.

Thank God there are people out there that can however.

The only way I can see this working is if they replace the rifle with a paint ball rifle and pay people to dress up in crazy animal costumes and run from behind tree to tree and duck in the grass.

That would be worth a nickle to play over the net.

Yes, that and it keeps population in control, if PETA had thier way, our world would be so over run with wildlife, we'd have a heck of a trying to co-exist without 'disturbing' the animals.

Yes, internet hunting MAY be a silly idea, but it's not STUPID, if it makes him money, there was obviously a market for it, thus it would be stupid of HIM to ignore it. Marketing

It's not humans that are overpopulating, it's the deer! Why, humans scarcely affect all the vast wilderness, but an extra 50,000 deer: CALAMITY!

Heaven forbid deer get out of control and ruin our crops or make our highways unsafe just because we've destroyed the habitats for their natural predators.

Why can't all the deer and coyotes and all the other animals just understand that earth is for humans?

Stupid PETA people.

And, hell yes, if there's a market for something, we should be able to sell it! Why, I know thousands of people who want to buy crack, but it's illegal. Why? Because BIG GOVERNMENT with their stupid "laws" say it's unsafe. If so many people still use it, maybe they aren't stupid: it's the law that is!

Well, by your own accord, show me the law that says you can't control a weapon to kill an animal over the internet. I never said this applies to already illegal activities. If you think of an idea, and it's not illegal, BY ALL MEANS, market it... if there isn't a demand, you'll be put out of business, if there is, and it is deemed illegal, same same.

Just because you don't agree with the 'invention', doesn't make it stupid. If Texas/US law says hunting over the web is illegal, he won't be able to proceed and this whole discussion is a moot point.
