I am not sure where to post this, so I fugured I would discuss it here in the off-topic section.

I have an image in RGB. The image contains some science data represented with various colors. I would like to create a color scale for that image, where then later on I could point to some parts of the same and say "this color represents x".

How can I create such a color scale for my image? Any way to do this in PhotoShop? Any other software that could do it for me?

Thanks,

t
