The only one who sounded like a reasonable, thinking human being in that article was this Carol Queen woman...

Have you known people who have tried to get out of porn? Being in a guy's dorm last year nearly every guy confessed that he'd struggled with porn and had a lot of trouble getting over it if he had by that point. It was a huge theme that year... There's actually in the Christian world whole series' of books devoted to helping guys not objectify women and what not... granted some of them are a bit... yah...

Yeah I agree. There's no harmful effect to body so this article is a bit far-fetching.

Porn addictive couldn't possibly be any worser than addiction to chocolate

Slashdot comment:
Religion is worse than crack
It was shown that prayer messes up your brain even more. Basically your brain releases serotonin when you pray and it makes you "feel better". Religion is just as addictive as drugs and porn, and if government insists on regulating the last two they should consider regulate the first one. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q...t_uids=1459474 2 [nih.gov]

Funny thing. If somebody says that they've never tried crack, you're inclined to believe them, but if they say they've never tried internet porn? Well.......

The panelists all agreed that the government should fund health campaigns to educate the public about the dangers of pornography. The campaign should combat the messages of pornography by putting signs on buses saying sex with children is not OK, said Layden.
Sheer ignorance coming from a public official. Since when is all porn a ringing endorsement for pedophelia?

I'm sure this rates right up there with making abstinence programs the only form of sex ed in schools.

What all levels of government should be concerned with is making proper, open sex ed available to young teens in order to form mature and healthy attitudes towards sex at an early age. This would do wonders to combat behavioral disorders related to sex, such as porn addiction itself.

If the chicks were attractive and naked, yes it would.

Hmmm... actually... last time I visited a mall, both of those criteria were almost a reality. (DAMN! Her parents let her leave the house dressed like that?!?! )

I knew I had a problem when I didn't want to sleep with my girlfriend, I only wanted to take naked photos of her and then masturbate to them. It took me a long time, and a lot of therapy, but I found some middle ground. I video tape us having sex, then masturbate to that later.

LOL

Sometimes I wonder whether or not the US is the laughingstock of the world with regard to our sexual hangups. I mean, seriously, folks - crack kills. Looking at her crack doesn't.

Porn worse than crack ?

Did the people who made that study ever try crack themselves ?

I suggest the doctors or whoever take crack everyday for a year or so, and I'll take their claims a bit more seriously.

In America at least, it was more about protecting followers of one religion from those of another. This persecution was most easily carried out when one religious group became entrenched in government and was able to suppress all others by leveraging government power. So yes, it protected the church from the state. By making sure the church never became the state.

Crack is physically and psychologically addicting. Porn is just psychologically addicting, just a matter of will power. Very seen you will be able to dial for porn on your cell phone.

This is already possible in Spain. It gets charged to your cell phone bill and you get a password in SMS form, good for a download.

hay guys just for the sake of this topic i'm going to attempt to stop looking at internet porn for a week to see how hard it is. i can't say that i've done crack before since i haven't, but if this is really as hard as they say, i guess if i ever do crack it will be much easier to get off of. wish me luck.

Oh well, it's currently being used by the state to mandate what the church can and can't do... like.. be the church

Give it another forty years and Christianity in any biblical sense will be very close to being outlawed if not already outlawed.
