I know it is late. In Halloween I went to the screening of the Rocky Horror Picture Show in Downtown Tampa, because my wife was so excited about it. I thought it was fun that people dressed up like freaks to see the movie.

But I got a big surprise when I found out that everyone in the audience could recite the dialog in the movie, and they were calling: Janet, you slut! Brad, you jackass! Talk about a yeller in a movie. I sat in front of someone who literally pour his lung out with a remark at every scene. I suppose that's what's supposed to happen.

Anyone here into this movie? Is it anything like Star Wars geekdom?

Huh. Regional cultural differences.

In New England, Brad is an asshole, not a jackass.

Rocky is to be experienced more than once, assuredly.

Why yes, yes I am. I grew up with the movie. Saw it for my first time in 1978, for my 6th birthday. Have seen the movie hundreds of times in the early 80s at the old Spartan Theater just off the campus of MSU in the Frandor Shopping Center. I've seen the movie in several other states too. Also, I've attend the play 7 times, 4 of which were of a national traveling troup. While I haven't seen it in a theater in probably 6 years, I can still recite the entire movie front to back, sing all the songs, and add both traditional and regional audience participation.

It is always a great night at a RHPS screening.

edit: I also have lots of rare RHPS memorabilia, a recordings of the play performed at the Roxy, the original VHS release, a signed book by RKO (Richard K O'Brian for you virgins out there) and a signed copy by RKO and Sal Piro of the Audience Participation Double Feature record (yes, records!).

I was a cast member for about a year and half at a local weekly showing (Fri and Sat nights at 12am), got to get in free. As is done in most venues, we performed the movie on a stage in front of the screen as the movie was running, usually played Brad or Eddie. Was a hell of a lot of fun... lots of drinking, camaraderie, and crazy sex, good times.

I've seen it probably a couple of dozen times, but not in a few years. My oldest daughter introduced us to it when she was younger.
Why is there always money for war, but none for education?

Last year, it was screened in Singapore for the first time. At an outdoor venue. Pretty funny as you had lots of expats in costume, with props and quite pissed. But as it was American, British and Aussie expats, everyone was yelling different things.
Then you had the locals, 98% of whom were virgins, who just sat around and watched the movie, watched the expats. Made for an even more surrealistic time.

This is a computer-generated message and needs no signature.

You didn't mention getting dragged down front to lose your virginity.
What kind of Rocky was this if you weren't oom-f$#ked?

The virgins were welcomed with a hearty "**** YOU!" by all the audience. I was spared because I was entered in the costume contest (Dracula).

I also got to see girls in their underwear, since they held a speed crossdressing contest.

I wouldn't have believed that who played principal in Problem Child is Dr Frankfurter, if I didn't see him with no makeup (the theater showed a whole documentary on the movie)

Riff Raff is awesome
