I have a friend who used to have a PC that I got to switch to Mac (10.3.6). They are a big ebay seller and the experience on a Mac is different.

When you list an item and get to the description, on a PC you get a java window (i think) that gives you a word processor type interface there you can set type in different styles for the description. They really like this.

On the Mac you have to write your owm HTML code. We have tried Safari, IE and Firefox on the Mac and no change. Does anyone know any alternatives besides running Virtual PC?

This is the big problem with using a mac on the net. I can't suggest anything but VPC, but am posting purely to say BUMMER! i have experienced the problem before when using hotmail, etc...

I believe this only works in IE on the PC. Not even Windows version of Firefox. There are ways to achieve this functionality that work in all browsers, however the more popular way seems to be using a function that is windows-ie only.

I simply use a HTML editor to do up my auctions, then just paste the result into eBay if I'm in a hurry.

write the HTML is the only thing he could do in textedit.

You could get Dreamweaver, that's pretty easy to use. Then copy/paste the HTML generated in that into the eBay form.

Or even better, something like Nvu which is a completely free WYSIWYG HTML editor, based on Mozilla Composer. Very easy to use, and does everything you would want for an eBay listing.

Those IE-only in-browser controls really do HTML? Are you sure that's not just rich text, like in Hotmail? I've never seen it, so this is a serious question.

Perhaps you could introduce them to Garagesale. It is an application for Mac similar to Turbo Lister for PC.
