I am running a web server from my home and when I first started using my mail server I set the server to relay e-mail from other than my domain..and well for almost 2 days I had spammers sendin mail from my server and thus my domain was put on a spammer list...The result; sometimes when sending to some domains such as AOL and comcast.net users it gets bounced back as from a spammer. Anyone know how to be removed from whatever list is out there? Cleaning my credit was easier than this.

First you need to find out what blocklist(s) you landed your behind in ...
  • check spamhaus
  • check news.admin.net-abuse.email (don't expect any sympathy from the folks there - they're mostly sysadmins sick of spam relayed by "servers" like yours)
  • check samspade.org - the last box on the page ("blackhole")
  • if you can't find any info there the only option is to directly email the admins at the companies blocking your mail and asking them which blocklist(s) they use and if they would consider removing you
  • if you landed yourself in spews (doubtful) - my condolences
  • important! it is possible that not you but your isp is blocked - not because of you but because of spammer-friendly behavior on your isp's side. in that case you're really screwed because the listings in said blocklists will not be removed until your isp changes the way they do business. actually ... usually you can expect the opposite - the listings will continue to expand until the isp kicks out the spammers they do business with.
Apologies if that doesn't sound too sympathetic either but I too feel a bit like the sysadmins mentioned above. nonetheless - good luck.
