The internet banking service worked fine until this morning, when it suddenly told me that my browser (Safari under OSX 10.2.8) doesn't meet their security standards. I thought that perhaps this was because they now only support internet banking under 10.3 with its newer, more secure version of Safari, which would be fair enough, if still annoying. But I phoned up their contact number and the tech guy said that they simply don't support Safari on the Mac, only something called 'Netscape Navigator' (wtf?) and Internet Explorer.

I remember sending an email to them when Safari first came out asking for Safari support, and they replied helpfully saying that it would be available soon, and indeed it was. Why, then, did they suddenly pull support and go back to those antiquated browsers? He said that they were looking into the possibility of supporting Safari but could give no time frame. Has anyone else experienced this? Does Safari on OSX 10.3 not work with it either?

It works for me in Firefox 1.0, and also in Safari 1.2.4 (v125.11) in OS X 10.3.6. Might be worth giving Firefox a look! I'm guessing it'll probably work in Camino as well.

Oh right, must be that they've discontinued 10.2.8 support. Odd, and annoying, but not as inexplicable as I'd thought. Cheers.
