Went to bed and there was a little snow on the ground. Wake up and there's a LOT more snow on the ground. It was very heavy thick stuff. After the plows came through it took about an hour to snow blow and shovel the end of the driveway.
Here's a picture of my wife and daughter removing our Fall decorations. Usually we can leave them up through the beginning of December. We don't usually get much snow 'till right before Christmas.
And our backyard,

that's a lot of snow. we only got a dusting yesterday. the temp dropped from 60 when i woke up at 10 to about 20 by 3 that afternoon.
in my mind, if it's going to be cold, there better be snow.

Snowing here too. Big flakes, but nothing is sticking to the ground much. Yet.
And I'm one of those bastards who gets to plow snow, but I do make a big effort not to pile it on peoples sidewalks and driveways, cuz that's just rude.

cute daughter in pink.. judged from the back/side.
When I woke up this morning, there was some frost on my front-yard and ppls' roofs/cars. Not to mention, it was foggy as well.
I haven't seen any snow here yet, sounds like it's gonna be a warmmer winter in the pacific NW.
Have fun!

Thanks.
She's a little over a year old. This was her first time playing in the snow. She kept picking it up and yelling "YUM". Which is her way of saying "it looks good enough to eat". We laughed so hard our stomachs hurt.
Another cute pic:

So do I. But I now only own front wheel drive cars so it has lost a little of it's funness. But I still love it. Might have to buy a $300 beater rear wheel drive soon.

Thanks!
My wife's Aunt and Uncle own a cabin up in Big Bear Lake area. We went real estate shopping with them a couple years ago. VERY nice area. They bought up there because their sons like to snow board and motocross.

It snowed pretty hard on Wednesday night (NW Indiana), but hasn't since. I'm tired of it already, impossible for me to drive my crummy car in, but I'll be home soon enough and won't have to deal with the worst of it.

Nice pics. We got about 10" over on this side of the state (Grand Rapids area).
My dad and I walked into a movie (National Treasure) with no snow on the ground, and by the time the movie was done there was about 4"! After the "blizzard" passed later that night, everything was completely covered. Now, after all this rain, it's just dark and wet everywhere
I miss all of the snow when I'm at school...

Well, 98% of the snow has melted. It rained all day today and now the little snow that is left is muddy and grey.
It was like a mini-winter and now an early Spring in 3 days.
Well, it was nice while it lasted.

See, this is why I don't like snow. It's all fun and pretty at first, then it just sticks around, getting muddy and disgusting, and generally making a nuisance of itself.
I much prefer rain, which falls, does its job, and then soaks into the ground or runs down a sewer drain somewhere. Unless you've got bald tires, you don't slip and slide around on rain. You don't have to scrape 3" of rain off your car before you can drive it.
On the other hand, you can't throw rainballs at other people. So snow does have its uses.

Rain instantly solidifies in Manchester? Yeah, rain can freeze and then you need to scrape it, but when you've got 6" of snow accumulation on your car, that's a much bigger pain than just ice, since once you've gotten the snow out of the way enough to even *see* the windshield, usually then you discover that you also have frost/ice to deal with.

Up until last year, before I moved off campus and discovered the hellish task of driving in the snow, I used to hold fast to my claim that anything was better than rain, including snow. After all, I proclaimed, you can always shake the snow off when you come indoors, and jackets keep the cold out, but rain eventually gets through everything and you're soaked no matter what.
But driving in the snow here is impossible, this stupid city has no concept of how to keep the roads clean, no sidewalks once the snow starts, and no public transit to give me an alternative. I can't deal with snow here, Chicago is fine, and we'll see how Boston is this weekend, but I just can't deal with it in South Bend, not with having to drive at least. Yay for the rain today, snow's all gone.
