I am looking for a smaller case for my 4'th gen ipod (20GB). what I am looking for is something small that will protect my ipod while I am keeping it in my pocket. so I was thinking that one of those iskin evo2 things would work good. well I ordered one in black in friday from the applestore, but it hasn't shipped yet so I can still cancel it. now I went to ipod lounge.com and checked out their reviews. now one thing that is very important for me is screen protection, and a small slim design. so most of the cases I looked at are the silicone rubber kind. well I became interested in the following two:
case 1:
http://www.ipodlounge.com/reviews_mo...d=5145_0_6_0_M
case 2:
http://www.ipodlounge.com/reviews_mo...d=4989_0_6_0_M
so right now I am just asking what should I do? cancel the iskin and order one of those two? and if so which one? or just keep the iskin order? also if any of you know any other cases that will be better for what I am looking for, feel free to mention them.

I'm against cases for ipods, as I like the feel of the smoothness.
But, um, rather than make this a useless ipod thread:
Why do people buy beautiful things and then cover them with cheap pieces of plastic, it's like putting clear vinyl on a couch...

silicone will be a problem with pockets because it's sticky. that 2nd case you have in the first post looks hideous.
Maybe you'd like to check out a clear plastic wrap for the ipod. They're redoing it for the 4G I think.

i have an iskin evo 2 for my 40GB 4G ipod.
good? little screen protector thing. doesnt add a heck of alot of bulk. that rubber has to be providing some shock protection. cant access hold switch easily, but dont need to since its pretty much impossible to hit the clickwheel accidentally.
bad? cant use dock (but this is the same for any pod case, really). the rubber attracts alot of dust/hair/whatever.
i just wanted something small to keep it relatively scratch free and it fits the bill.

I had an iSkin Evo2.
I stopped using it because upon taking the case off for the first time, my whole ipod was covered in scratches. Apparently what happens is that dirt get under the skin and rubs into the the ipod. The steel back is incredibly scuffed now, and was near pristine before I put it into the case. Also, the corners of the screen protector snapped off leaving jagged edges that could easily scratch the screen.
Also, you'll never like the look of your ipod as much in a case as you do bare.
I've ordered some socks.

I have an evo2 for the Mini and it's fine.
If you have the money, consider a case from Vaja. Absolutely wonderful quality leather.
I just got my iPod photo over the weekend and the dealer threw in a Radtech Podsleeve and I'm loving it. It feels good, is small but still keeps the iPod cushioned from small bumps. It won't survive a major fall but I like that I can use it with my clips. In fact, I got one for my Mini and can use it with the armband clip at the gym.

I had an iskin on mine for about a year and I took it off recently...and fell in love with my ipod all over again.
I'll either go the isock route (homemade or branded) or just play it safe. I think using a case means you miss out on the pleasure of holding the thing in your hand and appreciating its fine smooth design.

Indeed, we all make mistakes, and my couch is no longer covered in cheap plastic.

i have had a jam jacket (sucked, stretched out) an evo2 (blue, i actually really like the thing, but the corner of my screen protector broke off and now with a new iPod i'm a little scared it'll scratch the crap out of my shiny new ipod) and now i have a sock.
the evo2 is pretty cool, but i kinda came to the realization, thanks to C_V and paully that i like touching my ipod. i just got a new one (my 40 3g was having troubles) and i love the sock, it's just to pleasant to the touch.
go with a sock. they're really nice. unless you get dirty and want to keep the thing clean.

Therein lies the market for the 'stupid' socks.
I can't wait until I get mine for Xmas (my girlfriend is great at picking up hints )
