I was just curious if anyone had experience dealing with USAA or any other insurance agency, when you needed to have your laptop replaced because of damage. My wife tripped over the power cord and the PB flew off the table! Hoping I can get a fairly reasonable replacement. Just curious on peoples experiences.

i assume you're referring to coverage under homeowners or renters insurance. you need to carefully read the exact wording of your policy. My USAA policy required a special rider to extend to my laptop, the idea being that since it's a portable it is very often outside the boundaries of your home. Also contained in the rider, which is basically a business-class version of the personal computer one, is a higher limit since portables cost more (especially Mac portables). Also, when I purchased mine it was necessary to buy the expanded coverage to guarantee a new replacement rather than a depreciated value compensation amount.

Mine have all taken a few dives tho and may have a few dents or scratches but the deductible cost of replacing them generally exceeds what it would cost to fix it...sure you have to get a completely new one?

I have USAA Insurance, but don't have any extended coverage. Decided to just take my chances.
