My last one got stolen when my house was robbed 2 years ago, so I finally built a new one...

Not bad for the test flight.

Once I get used to the way it handles, I can look foreward to some wingtip touches and belly scoop touch and gos.

That looks like a lot of fun. Wish I had the time for RC stuff.

Beauty. Did you build that from scratch or a kit?
You should put up more video like that once you get more flights in.
I'd like to get back into R/C airplanes now and again but live too close to a really busy airport. Our favorite model rocket launch site happens to be at the 2 mile left 45 for the main runway.

Did you notice the idiot do a cross field takeoff in front of my roll out?

If I would have had my old Decathlon, he would have been a box of sticks.

How long can you stay in the air on one tank?

About 20 minutes, but you'll be tired before that.

I'll fly it around 10 to 15 minutes with plenty of fuel left over.

iLikeBeer, it's a WorldModels 60 sized P-51 ARF.
It took only around 10 hours to assemble.

Nice plane - and nice landing. Just out of curiosity, do you always taxi out of the pits?

Yeah, we don't taxi back into the pits though.
You kill the engine on the line and carry it back into the pits.
Spectators have a set of bleachers and aren't allowed near the pits or the flightline.

Starting one on the line is dangerous.

We do have a starting line for larger gas (100cc and above) planes that consists of two poles to hold the wings.

Very cool. What does a kit like that cost ? I'd like to build one myself once.

Let's see.

The Airframe was $250.
The engine new is around $250.
The servos are about $15 apiece for 6 of them and $30 for the specialized retractable landing gear servo.
The receiver is about $60. and I needed a $24 high capacity battery for all of the servos.

The engine is an OS .91FS I was given and I rebuilt it. (ring, cylinder, seals and bearings less than $100)
I already had the radio gear and only had to buy the retract servo and battery.

I have a supercharged engine that I'd love to put on it because it has the "Merlin" sound, but it needs an overhaul too.

I was at my local Radio Shack this weekend and I noticed they had an electric-powered P51 for $70.

that was awesome...Wouldn't mind playing with one myself, but I'd be scared as hell to crash it.

Seconded.
Better than most of my landings in a real plane.

Can't believe that was a kit, it's smooth looking. I had a trainer kit I flew for a while that took longer to build than 10 hours.
