Is Apple's mistake any worse than yours? It's "the OC Supertones' third album" (note the apostrophe after the S). BTW, the thread title should say "Disney Can Get Its Own Genre" (because "its" is possessive while "it's" means "it is").

He's more right than you or my English teacher is wrong. A noun that ends in s doesn't mean it's plural. So OC Supertones' is really OC Supertones's

Actually, if it ends in "s" and is possessive, it doesn't matter if it's singular or plural. It will still be written as " s' " so " Supertones' " is correct.

You're a little confused. He's clearly wrong because he said "Supertone's" -- the name of the group is the OC Supertones; he can't change the group's name just to make it possessive. As far as "Supertones'" versus "Supertones's" goes, I think it's actually a stylistic choice. Go back to his original sentence, but replace the name of the group with a pronoun. If you said "its third album" (using the singular pronoun for the group), you'd use "Supertones's" like you said. However, if you said "their third album" (using the plural pronoun), "Supertones'" is acceptable (and preferred IIRC).

the only thing I could find was this. I'll ask him after lecture tomorrow though.

from http://www.worldwidewords.org/articles/apostrophe.htm

Special problems arise when you create possessives for names already ending in “s”. Is it Charles’ Wain or Charles’s Wain? The latter sounds and looks better. Is it St James’s Street or St James’ Street? Custom and rhythm go for the former. Jones’s house indicates that only one person named Jones lives there; if a family does, it should be the Joneses’ house, which sounds exactly the same but looks odd on the page. Until recently, the usual form was Jesus’ and not Jesus’s but this tradition, described in Hart’s Rules as “an acceptable liturgical archaism”, was finally broken in the New English Bible of the mid-sixties.

Just go to the iTMS, and right-click (or ctrl-click) on a link. It'll give you an option to copy that link to the clipboard. Then just paste it in your browser like any other hyperlink.

I hope I'm not the only one who doesn't understand this post or thread title. The world's largest religion should have its own music genre on iTMS? Is that what you're saying? I don't get it. Walmart is the world's largest retailer, should they have their own iTMS genre? China is the world's largest country, what about them? And what does that have to do with misspelling a band's name?

Fixed. But I agree entirely with your sentiment. No, Christianity should not have its own genre, and there already is the "Inspirational" genre which basically is a Christian music genre. Gag me with a spoon.

My favorite (though it doesn't appear to be the case at ITMS), I loaded a Ween CD into iTunes several years ago. Via CDDB lookup, the genre was listed as ..... Ween

Misleading because a good portion of Russia/Canana's land is unhospitable/unhabitable and Canada has almost 300,000 more than the US in water alone

Actually, China is bigger than the US if you add that little island called Taiwan. Depends on who you ask if it belongs to China or its own country. But if I remember what certain US officials have been saying as of late, Taiwan is part of China. I mean, 1.3 Billion Chinese can't be wrong?

You could live anywhere in Canada, but most choose the southern parts. People do live up in the arctic. It's not "unhabitable" at all. It's just not that comfortable.

Sorry, but even by your definition, Canada is larger.

look, if we were to split up the countries and have a draft lottery for land — I would not choose either canada or russia with my top pick. (i'd choose the US, then China, perhaps maybe even a smaller euro nation in a good area before them)
