I'm laying in bed on my stomach, typing on the iBook and drinking a beer. It's often overlooked, but if it wasn't for peristalsis, none of this would be possible.

I would have probably bought a PowerMac instead of a portable, and I'd have to sit in a chair or stand to drink a beer - thanks peristalsis, for making it possible to enjoy alcohol while horizontal.

I agree, peristalsis is great, especially with respect to drinking beer, in any position. However, lack of peristalsis is a problem, especially when it affects the colon. Click link for picture if you dare.

(btw, I've been the Mutter Museum in Philly. It is a museum for medical anomalies. It is both gruesome and amazing. I highly recommend the trip to anyone who can get there. Then go to McGillins behind city hall for a few pints, to celebrate your active peristalsis!!!)
