Interesting, but it would probably make more sense if I was high.

More unneccessary provocation, the all too typical rantings of the "unenlightened" (and unimaginative).

To me anyway, the cowboy symbolized God. As no one really "saw" him. It was all in the Dude's mind, who had faith or something like that.

I'd rather not, I'm not a huge Coen brothers fan. Raising Arizona and Fargo were ok, but other than that... meh.

Awwww. It's all about Barton Fink, The Hudsucker Proxy, and Blood Simple. (And The Big Lebowski, of course.)

Raising Arizona, Barton Fink, Miller's Crossing, Fargo, Hudsucker Proxy, The Man Who Wasn't There, The Big Lebowski are cinematic gems.
Blood Simple, was very good. Oh Brother overrated and Intolerable Cruelty and Ladykilers disappointments.

Enlightenment? From a movie? Reminds me of the kids who got all stirred up over the Matrix.

haha... The Big Lebowski was AWWWESOME, one of the most classic movies I have ever seen. I reccomend it to all. Although Jeff Bridges played the role very well, John Goodman was totally perfect in playing the Walter role, "shut the **** up Donny. Donny, you're out of your element. You're like a child walking into the middle of a movie, you have no frame of reference." or "MARK IT ZERO, SMOKEY!"

The thing about Coen brothers films is, their dialogue is always spot on, beautiful written. If you ever read a script of theirs, everythings in there. All the little quirks that one might attribute to actors improvising, or stuff worked out on the set, it's all in there.
Read the script to the Big Lebowski and it's all there - you can picture the moment exactly. The characterisations are SPOT ON. Of course it's a rather popular form of entertainment, but it's well thought out, and actually kind of profoundly eloquent.
And then they play with the camera, they have fun with their movies. That's why they're so good.
