In my opinion, it's important to distinguish between rape (by definition) and taking advantage of somebody. In this case, it was clearly the latter. Would she have been raping the guy I'd be more serious as well.
But in this case it does not sound like rape at all, but more like taking advantage of a situation. Obviously, this is something no teacher should be doing but I'm guessing you agree it's better this way than if she was really raping him.

This is why we have the term "statutory rape". No, it's not "rape" in the violent sense. But it's inducement to sex with someone who is constitutionally unable to make an informed choice.

I think people's behavior in this thread has been pathetic. This kid has been messed up, and it is the teacher's fault. She's supposed to be the adult and the authority figure.

No, I'd feel the same way. The teacher should lose their job (perhaps barred from ever teaching again) and possibly get some community service. I still wouldn't call it "rape".

I'm familiar with statutory rape Mithras - but where in that article does it say statutory? It says rape, not statutory rape.

Anyhow, this is the lounge and the question in question is not whether we should judge her or whether we think what she did was right or wrong, but rather whether we would mind getting raped by this woman. As you can see, the question itself is a joke so lighten up

Yet just for the official record: I think what she did was wrong, it was however more taking advantage than statutory rape (although prevailing case law might disagree with me on this one). She definitely deserves to be put away and should definitely consider treatment in jail.

I'm not sure about statutory rape but I was under the impression that legally a women could not "rape" a man (or in this case a 14 yr old) because rape involves the act of penetration (unless the was some kinky strap on action) I'd assume it would be a sexual assult.

From dictionary.com:

Rape:

1. The crime of forcing another person to submit to sex acts, especially sexual intercourse.
[...]

So no, no penetration necessary. Just forcing someone to have sex with you without their consent. It is of course harder for a woman to rape a man than the other way around, for various reasons, but not impossible.

As long as you're underage you've, as far as the law is concerned, cannot agree to have sex with anybody who is of age.

Thus sex with anybody underage is considered to be rape.

It is not the gender, the reason why there seems to be "approval" of this is because the teacher was hot. If the rapist was a hot male teacher and this forum was made of deprived women, you would hear a lot of "I would have taken the bullet for her".

With so much media attention on top of this, the judge will be biased toward making an example out of her.
