Using Core Image, add a wake behind your mouse cursor. Then whenever you click your mouse button, it makes a ripple across your screen.
Talk about an Aqua interface.

If it was relatively easy to do, then why not show off the OS' graphics capabilities. It's not like it would have to be on by default, and as ironknee mentioned, there's always the cool factor...

Didn't they already do this in Quicktime demos 7 years ago, you could click on the water on the image and it would ripple.

Apple should just add a bunch of cool looking GUI stuff that we could turn on/off with a function key - just to show off OS X to windows users. I think it would help to increase the 'wow factor', but be totally useless to us as users.

It'd be cool. Granted, I'd disable it after 5 minutes, but it'd still be cool. But just consider the havoc this would cause among those who enjoy better living through chemistry! Oh, the humanity!

I wouldn't leave it on, no way. I just thought it would be a fun thing to have and show your friends every now and then.

You know what would be cool, if they made a desktop picture like the quicktime movie posted above. Watch the your icons create a wake as you move them around or drag them to the trash can. The faster you drag the icon, the bigger the wake.

That would be a cool option to have, but something people can turn off. I mean, annoying is annoying sometimes.

... Talking about mouse cursors, the new Novell Linux Desktop has a very interesting one (look at the first demo on that page): it looks like a real mouse, and the buttons highlight in the cursor "icon" when they are clicked. Very cool.

I'm not sure that's actually the mouse cursor they're using. I think that's just added in through flash.

With actual high res screens, a nice effect to find the mouse pointer would be welcome.

I used to run Gravit in OS 9. Was quite amusing, files and folders dangling around. And it actually wasn't annoyingly intrusive. The novelty of it wore off kinda quick, but it was still amusing. I'd like to see something like it back for 10.4.

Yes indeedy-do, a fella can lose track of the cursor on a 30" display. Still, I'm gonna keep mine!

If you lose the cursor on a large monitor, why not just control or right-click to pop up a menu? Instant find.

True they are run entirely through quicktime but you cannot create them with quicktime pro so they are not entirely compatable.
