What are some of the best channels and TV shows of all time (or at least now )?

For channels:
History Channel: I don't know where I'd be without this lil guy. This channel got me interested in history, and eventually politics. There's usually a big special every few months and most of them are fairly interesting. I'd sooner trust the History Channel that my junk history book.

Discovery Channel: Sort of similar to the History Channel, but more science-related. Two words: Shark week.

Comedy Central: Blue Collar comics, South Park, South Park, South Park, South Park, and more recently MadTV.

FoxNews: Not my favorite outlet, but better than its neigbors. I love the commentary guests like Bill Barns and Mort Kondracke.

[Fox, the regular channel, might get a mention if all of its shows weren't sleazy, with the exception of the Simpsons, which has fallen out of favor, and Family Guy.]

For Shows:
Law & Order: The stories are very well written and many times the twists even fool me. The original is still the best. My favorite group are the detectives, who are usually more blunt like me. Orbach is my favorite. Too bad he's gone.

South Park: Duh. No introduction necessary. I don't want to bring too much politics into it, but sometimes the messages of South Park are more slanted to the right than the left. But the bashing is fairly consistent and funny. Best episodes: Osama Bin Laden Has Farty Pants, I]The Death Camp of Tolerance[/I], and Fat Butt and Pancake Head.

Family Guy: No explanation necessary.

There are also a couple of minor shows, some that really aren't as big as those three, many of them small history channel shows likes "Modern Marvels."

Favorite Channels:

History Channel - Favorite Shows: Modern Marvels, Mail Call, Wild West Tech. I love the specials they have. Their recent special on the JFK assassination was excellent.

Discovery Channel - Awesome specials and a few cool shows like Extreme Engineering. However, I feel this channel is flooded with too many of these American Chopper/Monster Garage type shows. I mean come on, you have: Monster House, American Hot Rod, American Casino, Great Biker Build Off, Wing Nuts & Big. Enough already!

Science Channel (previously Discovery Science) - Reminds me of what the Discovery Channel was like before the American Chopper/Monster Garage invasion. I can watch just about anything on this channel.

Food Network - I don't cook that often but I love this channel. Good Eats, Emeril Live, 30 Minute Meals, and of course Iron Chef.

Cartoon Network - Love the Adult Swim lineup. I purchased a Tivo box last month so now I longer miss Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

Don't watch a whole lot of TV from the big networks but here is a list of shows that I cannot miss (Tivo season pass):

ABC
- Desperate Housewives (I'm hooked)
- Lost

Fox
- The OC (my guilty pleasure)
- 24

WB
- Smallville

The History Channel, no shows in particular. I enjoy the mix.
Comedy Central - South Park is still as funny as it ever was.
Cartoon Network - Adult Swim
MSNBC - I watch MSNBC whenever I am not waching any of the above three. I'm a news junkie. (Amy Robach)

Meh, I never liked the Daily Show. Most of his material is not even funny.

Yeah, I think they need to cut back the gearhead shows to the bare basics. Too much of that. If they want a place for that stuff, put it on a different channel, like they did with Discovery Wings.

I TiVo all of those shows, too. I also watch Boston Legal, Scrubs, Alias, and Jack & Bobby. I kind of like mindless TV.

Most importantly, I watch all of the Eagles games, the NFL in general (Sunday Ticket), and college football.
