I dunno if anyone else has posted about his, but does anyone know of any working Dreamcast or PS2 emulators for mac? I already have tested one for N64, but who really cares about N64 anymore...

If any of you guys know a site, please link me!

We wont be seeing Ps2 emulators that actually run decently for several years. Hell, the n64 ones and playstation ones are still not even perfect. In order to effectively emulate something, you need like 10X the power of the original machine.

Maybe not in the open-source world, but commercial software developers achieved it long ago. Many years ago, Connectix made Virtual Game Station for Mac, which was a fully functional PlayStation emulator for the Mac. It ran absolutely flawlessly on Macs with 150MHz processors.

Virtual Game Station died when, as a perverted sort of settlement, Sony bought VGS from Connectix in order to pull it off the market. (It doesn't make sense to me why, though, since Sony was selling PlayStations at a loss at the time, just to sell the games.)

I have VGS, but it only runs in Mac OS 8/9x, and not in Classic mode under OS X. So you'd need a computer that can actually boot into OS 9.

From what I remember, it ran fine on my Beige G3. But the only game I had was Ridge Racer.

I used to run VGS,and it ran fine, had very few problems with games (if any, come to think of it) and did the job fine until I got a PS2. There is a site with a Mac PS2 emulator called Flarestorm, but last time I looked it was still basically a tech demo, and wouldn't actually play any games.

Look after my manor, or I will bum you, literally, to death.

It plays games. But you have to get past a few things:

No USB controller support
No speed throttle

It runs at full speed on any machine. When I had a PowerBook for about a week, I tried it out. It was impossible to play. The games ran at warp speed.

In theory you should be able to slow it down by keeping your cpu busy by having lots of apps open.
