Ok, it's not like I really was here in the first place (check out my posting rate), but lately I've spent a lot of time on other forums and have topped almost 3000 posts in 4 months. Rather than waste my energy arguing on rightwing forums and Christian forums, I'm going to come back to MacNN, the very first forum I joined back in 2002 and I will post here exclusively from now on.

The people here are intelligent (for the most part ). In the political lounge, the majority of posts have some sanity and rationale to them, unlike the dumbasses in protestwarrior and democratic underground.

Since there is a healthy dose of ideological diversity here, it creates an environment in which people can't make ridiculous statements without being held accountable. Both liberals and conservatives here are help accountable by one another, and thus people are forced to put more thought into their posts. In addition, there is no "pat everyone on the back" mentality here like there are at ideological forums.

We don't have a situation where someone posts a story about how the Declaration of Independence was banned in a school in California and therefore post after post after post of conservative tripe. As well, we don't have a situation where someone posts a story about November being the deadliest month for US casualties in Iraq and therefore post after post after post after post of liberal anti-war tripe.

And best of all, we are all Mac users, and that's a cool thing in which to have a common interest. There's nothing more annoying than arguing with PC weenies who can't get their facts straight on the Mac and repeat the same tired old anti-Mac bullsh*t arguments.

So in conclusion, thank you MacNN for being a cool place. We are the best forum in the world!

PS, don't forget to visit my liberal database

Political lounge has degraded some, well, alot, since August. It's not as fun as it used to be when there were more people in the lounge. Right now, it's like "Argue with 5 people with no help, then add name calling." Don't expect many great debates.

Besides, this is my off week. This is usually when I cram in massive amount of GUI forum and PS time. So I'll be off my break next week.

We could just keep him in a cannon, ready to be fired at whoever deserves such a dire fate... why yes, I am rather evil.

i don't really like the political forum here. too many hardliners, both from the pro-muslim/pro-palestinian and the pro-israeli/fundamentalist sides. but it's still fun to bait people by starting threads then going off elsewhere once they take root.

You should spent some time on protestwarrior.com or DU. Those people are insane, and its very hard to have a reasonable discussion without ad-hominems. At least here, the political discussions are somewhat sane )

Also, people here tend to adopt a more polarized stance on issues than they would in real life, I know I do. The poli lounge is just entertainment, it's all about hyperbole and scoring points.

Welcome back to MacNN, macintologist. Hope that it will be productive.
