They must have been expecting this. I remember playing Starcraft on BNet and confronting a Battlecruiser 10 minutes into the game
Btw, is WoW playable on my Powerbook?

Dude, sometime starcraft is played well. I HATE getting accused of cheating when I've never cheated before. Some people are sore losers. Others, are just Korean (and thus very good).

Hmm I'm not sure I get the point of this thread. Every MMOG have some kind of speed hacks to accelerate their characters, even EQ2.
It's nothing new really

I haven't played WOW, but hackers and cheaters in online games are the scum of the earth. They are untalented, they are crappy players, they are sorelosers, they are cheats, and they most certainly have microscopic sexual organs.
The worst for me was Medal of Honor when I played a while back. All these sissys running around with guns that shoot through walls, and sometimes bodyless soldiers. Man, cheaters suck.
May they all get a huge virus on their machines, which wipes their entire drive.

My brother used to get accused of cheating all the time. Everyone would use some popular "tactic of the week" be it a Zerg rush or whatever. Depending on the first and second wave of attacks, my bro knew exactly what tactic those people were going to use. It was straight up cookie cutter crap. So he would design his defenses to counteract their attack perfectly, so people would accuse him of map hacking.
No one has any originality, so they were relatively easy to beat (the majority of them, anyway.)

Joke right?
Is EQ hacked this easily? Or is Blizzard just really good at making hackable games?

I'm not sure what EQ means. Equalizer?
But yea, I had one experience playing with cheaters. My friend also told me he had 12 Protoss carriers on his ass while he was building his first hydralisk

Are you sure they were cheating? Did you watch the replays? Some people are just REALLY good at building upper level units really fast, especially if you don't attack and force them to waste time and resources on tier 1 or tier 2 units.

EQ = EverQuest
And I thought you were joking because at 10 minutes, only one battlecrusier (if that's the strat the guy is using) would be rather lame. I've never had an experience with someone who was able to hack Starcraft to build faster or have more money. Hacking the map so you can see everything, yes. Crashing the program, yes. Even crashing individual people, yes. But never to make the actual building different. I'm by no means great at the game, but I can at least build fast enough that the really good (mostly Korean) players aren't building unreasonably. It's amazing, but not unreasonable so as to assume they hack. Most of the time I am really impressed with the actual game play and micro management of a player over the speed of their building, ie. people who are able to counter everything you do and still launch an offensive.
Yes, I still play Starcraft and it's still my favorite game. Although it can take a few minutes to get enough people in a game these days.

It was in the early days of Starcraft before they had replays, like back in 1998. It was a hack, no doubt about it.

I enjoy it when I get called a hacker. 99% of the times they are saying I map hack (seeing the map) and, since I use a Mac, it's not even possible. But they will still claim hacks for the Mac exist. It's a compliment to be sure. It means I was able to stay on top of everything enough that they couldn't attack without me knowing. That is what you need to do to win. But so many people actually hack that they just assume everyone does. It's just so easy to do on the PC.
Every now and then I get someone who really sucks who says I hack because I build to fast. Or better, I get my allies saying the enemy must hack because they have so much. Really, you probably were just used to playing on the Computer's terms and didn't play other people enough to realize how quickly you can really build in the game.
A long time ago when I was first on battle.net, I made the same mistake you are now. I assumed people hacked to build so fast. I learned they just know the game.

I'm compelled, now that we're talking about it, to reinstall Starcraft and play again. My problem is that I absolutely despise Brood War. I hate the extra units and the effect they have on strategy. I only play Starcraft. Another thing is I don't like the fact of my PB resolution downsizing to 640x480 and it looking all blurry and choppy. Back in 1999 when I got Starcraft on my iMac, CRTs would look crisp when downsizing to 640x480. I wish somehow the Starcraft software was enhanced to allow 1024x768.

The extra units are so very important but they are also used in some of the most devastating early attacks. Such as lurker or dark templar rushing. I couldn't play without them, though. I have, on accident, by joining Starcraft on battle.net instead of Brood War, and when I go to build a medic, or dark templar, or lurker, I'm totally confused. But that has only happened a few times. Marines are completely worthless without medics though. With, they are actually decent.
Anyway, I regularly play on my iBook and, while it doesn't look great, it isn't as bad as when I used to play on the original iBook with a 800x600 scaled down. It is a bit pixely (as you can see no matter what) but the crispness is not too horrible. IMO of course. But yes, CRTs are better.

Clear and Num Lock are on the same key. Apple replaced Num Lock (as it's useless on Mac) to Clear in all new keyboards.
BTW, mouse button 4 (if you have multi-buttons mouse) is set to Auto-Run by default too.

One question, one nitpick. Question: what is the auto-run you guys are talking about? Haven't played WoW yet. I'm thinking maybe I should but I'll have to see if i can afford it. Nitpick: num lock is not useless on the laptops. Just to make things... err, clear.

Thanks for clearing that up....
Autorun is just so you dont have to hold the walk key....In my case the "W", you just hit the Clear button and you can turn it as you need but it runs forward on its own.
Hand saver for these MMORPG maps

I see. So then you can just have your guy run and point your mouse in the direction to go?
Hey are these games first person or third person? I have never played an MMORPG.

Most people play 3rd person, but you can zoom the camera in and get a first person view, too. It just makes it harder to see when fighting and when in group situations. But, I sometimes prefer to go first person in towns and while running around. It makes me feel more immersed in the game and you get a better look at the details of the characters around you.
