Hey,

I was just looking at some sites, thinking that they don't sell or produce anymore Dreamcast games or consoles, but I saw games being released in Jan, 2005..... If anyone knows anything about it please tell me cause I really want a dreamcast.....

i would suggest getting one off ebay. i have not seen new dreamcasts in shops for a while now, neither have i seen games.

you can get games and dreamcasts really cheap off ebay now. the only issue i had is that my dreamcast and the dreamcasts of my friend, the laser started dying after about a year and a half. so if you are going to get something off ebay make sure it is working perfectly fine.

the dreamcast is awesome, there are awesome games out for it.

Dreamcast is my most favorite console of all time. And I've had them all (yes 32x, 3DO and Jaguar.) I played it the most out of all of them. Too bad it didn't do better.

People also really like it as it is easy and cheap to copy games.

My friend had Guantlet Legends on his Dreamcast. Was just like the arcade... and just as boring.

You mean the flop that almost single-handedly did Dreamcast in? Great console though, I have fond memories of mine.

In terms of sales at least it was a flop, especially considering their investment. I didn't care for the game either, but that's a personal call.

Shenmue did not live up to the hype. It was interesting, but DC had better games.

-If you have a Dreamcast and appreciate a good RPG, check out Skies of Arcadia (also on GC). It ranks up their as one of my favorite RPG's of all time.

-SeaMan was the most disturbing game I have ever played...

I always liked Sega, and never had owned one of their systems. Dreamcast was the first system I ever bought on the first day. 09.09.99 Was that it? Who could resist a come-back like that?

Sega is now pretty much dead, but at least I can say that I have a piece of gaming history.

Aren't they still developing games for all other consoles?

Yes, but they tend to suck and continue to look like the graphics were created on an Amiga. (not to mention Sega's gawdawful music)

They DO put more effort into their sports games, but I can never figure out the controls on those, so I don't.

The Dreamcast was a fantastic console with great games. The atrocious management by Sega killed it.

Perfectly put... Didn't they produce to many and weren't able to sell the stock pile?

I think Sega really reached a high point in game development quality and innovation back in the Dreamcast days. The game library on that machine was really quite impressive... I remember buying up nearly 10 games just in the opening couple of months, something I haven't done with any other console. I attended E3 2000, where Sega kicked butt and took names despite all the PS2 and Xbox hype.

Since then, yes, their games have left something to be desired. Today they are a shadow of their former selves. Panzer Dragoon Orta and the Xbox Jet Grind Radio game really seemed like half-hearted efforts. Their sports games are still top notch though. It doesn't help that the arcade style fighting genre just ain't what it used to be, either, or that they don't seem capable of producing a quality, marquee platformer anymore.

And the one thing that still bugs me about Sega -- their manuals are horrible. Not only has Sega almost ALWAYS gone the cheap route in putting out black and white manuals, but lately their manuals are getting quite thin as well. It's not a big deal, but it's just an area where Sega really lags in showing appreciation for their customers.
