Apple is going for the PVR (Personal Video Recorder)

http://www.pvruk.com/

and

And a glimpse of mysterious 'handheld computer' appliance the company patented earlier this year may indicate Apple's interest in the networked home.

Apple rocks.

My TiVo does a fine job as it is, I don't see many useful features to having an apple branded PVR, except the fact it is apple branded thus I would need to get one... hey maybe they are on to something here?

It'd be great to leave an Apple PVR at home and pick it up on the week ends and watch the stuff I couldn't watch during the week. But I hope it'd be relatively compact and what not.

No. It's good if they let you skip commercials.

Some bad news posted today over on ARS:

http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20041206-4435.html

When you hit the fast forward button on your TiVo in the near future, get ready to see an ad.
