Found this for $60. 16x DVD +/- RW, supports dual layers too. Anyone know if this'll work with iMovie, iDVD, etc.?

Oh, thanks. Didn't know there was a list.

Damn it. Such a good deal.

Weird. I don't see Lite-on either, but I know it works.

Hmmm, sorry. Don't know what to tell you then. When I've bought hardware, I check Apple's Made4Mac section. If I don't see it, I don't buy it. I'm sure there are hundreds of products not listed that work. Maybe that list is only products Apple has tested.

Pioneer isn't on there either. I'm wondering if that's a different list for something. I'm certain Pioneer is the actual manufacturer for Apple's SuperDrives.

Ah, you are right.

I found lots of BenQ stuff the second time I tried. But only one item, when you search for 'anything' BenQ, comes up as Built For Mac OS X.

Try it yourself. Simply click on Made4Mac at Apple's home page and then put BenQ in the search box. 12 items.

Edit: here is the kicker...

So, it would appear, the vendor can say, this works for mac or not and add it to the list.

Always always always check XLR8YourMac's database for drive compatibility:
