Not from what I have seen, there are elitists on both sides, dood my P4 XXIV will smoke your G5, etc. I think Mac users just have a bad rap, I dunno

Total gratuitous bullsh1t. Just an attack against a certain stereotype. Where's the punchline?

I think a lot of it depends on the area. Here in Southern California we get a lot of L.A. chic types sipping on lattes, chatting on handsfree cellphones and poorly navigating around with their humongous SUVs all at the same time. A lot of those types are snobbish and elitist, and I see them end up buying Macs more as accessories than anything.
Then you have the elitist stereotypes that always follow certain creative types who work in graphical arts or music (who appreciate what the Mac platform has to offer them). The stereotypes were pinned to these individuals for reasons other than their Mac usage, but because of it, the stereotype bleeds over to the Mac.
My friend teased me relentlessly about the various Mac stereotypes when I announced that I'd be buying a PowerBook. He envisioned me in John Lennon glasses and a white Volkswagen Beetle. I laughed it off until he and I went to one of our nearby Apple stores and actually saw some of the most outrageous stereotypes walking around the store exemplified.

Yeah, that's what this comic is... stereotypes are funny so that's what it plays off of.
I could post more web comics I've seen that are similar to this but I've lost count as to how many there are.

It fits an older sterotype. I only see PC gamers acting that way these day.

I know the Pismos were tough, but I kind of doubt that they were intended to be used in this fashion.
At the very least, this should void the warranty.

Speaking of which I just finished watching the series tonight... I really like it as you can see by my sig! ^_^
Favorite online comic is VGcats. CAD is okay, and so is PA, but VGcats I think is one of the cleverist ones out there. I can't simply post a good one because there's no way I can decide.

There's a mod, or at least there used to be when it was halfway decent, at macosx.com named Jason who used the same "elitist ***hole" comment in his sig for the longest time.
Trouble with this cartoon is that it's not funny, and it doesn't say any kind of message either. Really weak.

This is a computer-generated message and needs no signature.

Harsh but true.
I do drink coffee but other than that my Mac is just my tool of preference. I can use wintels just as well, but I prefer Macs. Sosumi

Lots of truth in that 'toon.
The Mac is the best computer. We use the best and don't really like to sit around in a quagmire of crap like the Windoze users have to (therefore raising ourselves above the crowd who know no better).
Nowt wrong with being elitist. We rock. They don't. Their problem.

Actually, you guys don't get it because you didn't read the associated news post. Penny Arcade almost always requires you to read the news post in order to understand the comic.

I'm not sure what this sh*t is meant to accomplish, Apple, aside from pissing me off.
The Mac users I know don't like the Switch campaign any more than I do. And, I've got to be honest with you, I didn't know this kind of crap was still going on - indeed, I thought it was over. I thought that the front in the techno-cultural war had progressed to moving between Windows and Linux, God knows I must endure hearing about it, and that human beings by and large simply purchased a PC or a Macintosh based on personal preference or prior experience or whatever else. Anything aside from the implied difference between what a "real" or "smart" person would do, which has been Apple's motif for as long as I can remember. I don't find the neurotic caricatures selected for these ads compelling in the least, they're not realer, they're people I want to avoid at all costs, examining my own life to systematically eradicate any similarities I might find between us. They are avatars of a corporation, not some kind of social movement, inheriting at full volume the smug superiority that Windows users seek to return in kind.
Everyone who has ever brushed up against this issue is well acquainted with the major arguments for each side, but I'm simply not fascinated with the prospect of investigating it here. I think it's boring. I'd imagine most people just think it's boring. And if people on both platforms can play Warcraft III native, well, what the **** are we talking about this for? Mac gamers are no longer martyrs, and it's actually possible to enjoy using Windows anymore. The whole thing is stupid. If Apple really wanted to sell more Macs, they should just show people how it looks when you minimize **** in OS X. I thought I was going to pee my pants.
As you can see, this isn't a jab at Mac users. It's a jab at Apple and their Switch campaign in general, because they're making Mac users look like elitist assholes when they're not. Make more sense now? I was actually doubtful of that comic's merit before I read the above news post as well.
