I guess it was just derailed by the above mentioning terrorists hating for freedom...
Didn't know that was part of the topic of the thread, so It should be ok for me to take the ball and run with it from here on...

Allow me to fix his post as well.

- Instead of showing off boobs, showing you are boobs
- Instead of Pot, being potheads
- Gay Marriages... just being gay (in a happy, non same sex butt-buddy context)

[terrorists]
Yet you just let them cross your border into the US, why would they hate you, they love you.

To address the issue of gay marriage being legal in Canada:

I know I'll sleep better at night, knowing those law breaking Canadians who slipped across the border, went to Boston got married can now legitimately be married... yippie.

The only reason why there is such a conflict over same-sex marriage in the US is just plain stupid (i'd put it in the political lounge, but i just want to put it here). Bush has forgotten one of the main principles this nation was founded on: the separation of church and state. I am sure that most people are aware that homosexuality is considered a "sin". It is not. What would you feel like if you were a heterosexual and you were constantly insulted and disrespected because of it. I'm not a homosexual, but this country was also based on the principle that every man is created equal. This means that blacks, whites, gays, lesbians, hispanics and whatever race or nationality should be treated equally. In most parts of the country it's just not true.

Especially that gay people pay taxes but don't have the same rights as everyone else.

Read that in the paper this morning, I think it's a good step forward; a lot of marriages these days are strictly secular anyway.

My Canada politics must be off, but I thought it was legal. What do you mean by "officially" legal? What was it before (or rather, now, since this hasn't gone through yet)?

Legislation will recognise a same sex marriage as being the same as a hetero marriage. Meaning we will gain the rights and priveledges of hetero couples.

Right now about 50% of the Country allows it, places like Alberta are more like the US in they dont want to allow it. This will make it almost impossible for those provinces to deny SSM. As well like kakkid said, force all rights related to it for both SSM and the traditional marrage.

Yikes!

23 is WAY too young to get married. If you've found someone special
*when* you get married isn't nearly as important as merely being with
that person. But anyway, congrats on finding that someone special.

I think it is great seeing how all these people are against it but it doesn't matter cuz it is going through anyway. I bet it will also be legal in the US within 5-10 years.

So to sum it all up I say NA NA

BTW: If it does become legal nationwide in the USA, then like Boston, unmarried gay couples will lose their benefits that they have been getting. Gay activists are upset because they say it is a more 'difficult' decision for a gay couple to get married. Really? That's funny... you are all so very special. Gag.

No, really, it is a much harder decision for gay couples. Remember, gay couples have the extra burden and worry of deciding who has to wear the wedding dress!

Why should they? If YOU don't show respect for people's religious beliefs, why should THEY show respect for your sexual preference? Respect is a give and take kinda thing, no?

The reason he doesn't have respect for their beliefs is because they run like a pack of wolves into any "gay" related thread.

Not that anything they say matters though as we still win in the end with a ruling. They can sit in church and pray for us all they want

No, I don't believe that for a moment. It's a FACT, the aggression towards religion is much greater around these parts.
