Smells a bit fishy to me as they seem to ignore the battery usage from other sources such as the screen and keypad lights. Even when off a battery still drains when sitting idle.

that was the worst tech article i have read

when, if its going to be implemented?

is the clarity the same or did he just get insane batt life?

can this be implemented in other mobile devices?

I think it was all based on one press release from the inventor. Which means it is not in any products yet.

And a chip that uses 1/100th as much power is nice, but it doesn't make a whole phone, and doesn't take into account that batteries lose charge even when disconnected.

What would be really interesting to see would be if the technology used in Traser gear could be used to create a sort of 10-year disposable battery.

probly just to get attention ... i doubt "yearly reccharge" ...

at first .. i thought it would be something huge ... i mean .. i can see a huge brick of a phone with 80 duracells to last a year) lol ..

No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

That article barely covers it. The news story on tv last night showed much more. The University of Alberta has done some very impressive research in the past and based on that I would think that these guys and their little power saving chip are the real deal. Just remember, they are still in the early stages of the research. Wait for it to be complete and see what happens.
