Why does it have to be Tom Cruise.
God damn it, that's going to be the one thing keeping me from enjoying this movie.

It's not that great of a book. But the Mercury Theatre put on a good radio show once upon a time.

Is that the radio show where some people listening thought it was a real news report and that the world WAS being invaded by aliens?

I enjoyed viewing the trailer. All the action was at the end, would like to see more.

I think the original 1953 WOTW was pretty damn good.

Two words that will make me avoid a movie like the plague: Spielberg, Cruise.

Look like IE4 but I am sure it will be much better as I doubt it will have the US president flying fighter jets.

Correct, and ironically Ashlee Simpson has accepted the role of "brainless" Scarecrow...

At least this film looks better than Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. And with exceptions (AI), Spielberg generally produces decent flicks.

I don't understand what the negativity with this re-make is..Speilberg does most of his movies from books...thats a re-make in a different media in a sense...but I think Speilberg does have a few original ideas that were never adapted from books. One trailer does not a whole movie make.
