I decided when I'm using my gaming pc at least I can still "kind of" feel like I'm using my mac. http://img126.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img1...ntitled4rt.jpg
Can anyone give me a few more pointers for making a windoze pc feel like a mac? I'm using a docking station and a custom desktop theme but it still doesnt feel right. I want to get os x icons but I'm not sure how. Any suggestions or help would be great!

The more you make it look like a Mac, the worse it'll operate because of the hacks, and the less it'll act like a Mac. Agreed, leave it as it is. Or, wait until Cedega is more developed (HL2 is supported already), and you can run Windows games under Linux....Linux is more flexable in it's appearance.

The first step would be to pick a background that doesn't squish the Apple like that.

If it has many games installed, it feels like Windows.

I guess you could uninstall 90% of the games and it will be more Mac-like.

I think that your desktop looks nice, good job.

You just need the image files for the icons.

as others have told you above - leave it alone. it'll never even remotely resemble the look and feel of os x. that being said, take a look at aqua soft where quite a few pc folks seem to gather in order to make their pc more "mac-like". ewww.

look for some mod called "flyakite" or something. i have no idea if and/or how it works - my guess would be - install and watch your pc melt in front of your eyes.

btw, has someone already told you to leave it alone?

imho, attempting to make xp look (let alone, "work") like os x is like dressing up a pig and trying to convince your buddies that your "babe" is hot - it won't fly.

Yeah, trying to emulate OS X on Windows just makes the entire desktop look like ****.

On my Windows machine, I got rid of every desktop icon I could, reverted to the Classic theme, and enabled ClearType font.

Simple, pretty, and good enough for me to not hate it.

... truer words were never spoken. That's about all you can hope for with XPee. And while it'll never look like a Mac it's not that difficult to make it look halfway bearable. A couple nice icons, background image, a decent visual theme, YzToolbar + YzShadow and you're good to go ...

and if you need a dock, there's still YzDock which can be made to look decent as well (I like ObjectDock myself - but that's like having a choice between pest and cholera)

Theme is LunaVX, toolbar buttons from "Longhorn alternative GuiKit" and the background img grew on my own dung pile. IIRC, the first two came from the gui section on neowin.net.

I'm counting on the power of auto-suggestion here - trying to trick myself into thinking that I'm using Linux instead of XPee while I'm sitting at my WinBox. Works most of the time - until the damn thing crashes (again.) Especially since no flavor of Linux runs on the thing (yet - lack of drivers.)
