I'm not asking anyone to go looking for me, but if anyone comes across 3MP camera with 3X optical zoom for about $100, I would appreciate it. I want to get my uncle one for Christmas, but If I can't find a camera for $100, I'll spend that money on something else for him. I set a budget for everyone at Christmas time, and I stick to it, so anything more expensive won't work. I guess I could just give him my shiny new D70, but i don't wanna

So, if you come across something in your net travels, or during real life Christmas shopping, it would be well within the christmas spirit to post me up a link or a store name. Thanks in advance.

Sony DSC-P52. It's only got 2x zoom and it's $129 (a little higher than what you were looking for, but it's a good camera.

I would check the digital video and audio, or the peripherals forums, those guys helped me find a camera a couple weeks ago. They seem to know their stuff.

That might just do the trick. I can go a little over I guess. It's more a matter of principle than a financial thing. Unfortunately, I'm at work right now, so when I click the link, ‘smart filter’ tells me that circuit city is a chat site. Go figure.

You could take a look at this one: Toshiba PDR-2300 - it's at $95 refurbished, and has 3x optical zoom...

Here you go:

dpreview.com is a great site and here is a link for their side-by-side comparison.

After you find the camera for the best price and features, go to EBAY!

dpreview / comparison page

Here is one recommended: Canon A310

And it is on ebay for $102 and change. The auction ends in about 4 hours.

Hey, tell me about your Nikon D70. How do you like it? What do you love and what do you hate if anything? What kind of glass have you got? etc.

I'd go for this, via dealcam (amazon)

http://dealcam.com/prices/cameras/1975.html

$113 / 3MP

Don't try to outweird me, I get stranger things than you free with my breakfast cereal.

Thanks guys. I think I'm going to stop at Circuit City and pick up that cbershot that cjrivera linked above. Its a little over budget, but not enough to matter

Thanks for all the help, tis appreciated.

Koogz, I haven't used the D70 yet. Technically, it's a christmas present, so I'm trying my best not to fiddle with it before the big day. Once I start using it, I'll let you know what I think of it. I've got a feeling I won't be disappointed.

I don't like Sony... and would probably say this camera over their camera. memory stick sucks... XD isn't much better, but you can still find better deals... also if your uncle is older, this camera will be a little larger in your hands, the Sony is very slim (not great for big hands)

Again, if the 2X optical isn't doing it for you (I think it's important for older people that have been using a more traditional camera.

I've also seen this camera for as little as $129.95

QUASI IMPORTANT NOTE: Having worked at Best Buy for a while, I've noticed that cameras made in China last months/years less then ones made in Japan. I've also noticed that Canon will run a camera (1st generation) in Japan, then have the same camera (but 2nd generation) run in China. Something to think about if you get in a price war at the store.

The A330 is a nice camera. We looked at them before we got our A70. The D-395 is nice for the price too.
He can be fixed -- you can't.
