Alot of threads have brought up some of my earlier childhood Christmas experiences, so I figured we'd need to condense them.

The good.

Probably me favorite memory was in my house in 1999. We had this big ol house. I loved that place. We had this big foyer and a loft overlooking the family room with a vaulted ceiling. My dad decided that he wanted a huge tree for Christmas. So we went out to a tree farm, but came back empty handed. Then we went to a bigger one. The guy asked him how big he wanted the tree, and he replied "17 feet". The man showed us a couple of the leviathan trees, and we picked out this monster that must have been 4x the size of me at the time. It was awesome. My dad underestimated the size of the tree. His F150 was a *little* to small for the job. So we had to come back with this bug truck to haul it back.

We dropped thing on the front lawn and cleaned it up a bit. This thing shed more than my longhaired cat at the time, Luke (I could write pages about that cat ). The diameter of the tree when wrapped was 6 feet. We had to open up both of the double doors to fit it through. They weaved it through the foyer and out to the family room, where it stretched across 2/3 of the room. After some struggling, we got it into the enormous tree stand. The only thing that would fit it was this cast iron one with these big eye bolts.

Decorating it was the best part. He had to bring in his huge ladder to start. We used 3k lights on that tree. We had people stringing them around the tree from the loft railing using a broom with my dad holding onto piece of it. It took about four hours to get finished. That thing sure held an ass load of presents.

The bad.

This one is short. In the same house, 1 year before, we were coming in from our trip to my Aunt's over the break. My dad was in the library, which was directly to your left across the foyer. He had a glowing cigarette in his hand. We just found out his mom died. It was one of those "made for a drama movie" moments. It was awful.

Let's here some more of those stories!
