i've ordered both my computers straight from apple and never had a problem with delays or service issues. i've been extremely happy with there tech support even though i've only called once and found out later there was no need. however i am not happy with the time it takes to process a simple, small order. On december the 10th i ordered a small 20 dollar video adapter. finally on the 13th i recieved an email saying it would ship within the next two days. great! well, it didn't work that way 4 days later i get an email s aying due to unexpected inventory shortages the item would ship by the 21st. so i call to cancel and decide i'll just go pick it up from the apple store 2 hours away (i am going to atlanta on monday anyway so not a big deal). when i call to cancel they tell me it is on the dock waiting for a tracking number to ship... WHAT IS IT!! is it shipping or not? /rant

My girlfriend ordered me a bluetooth wireless keyboard for Christmas. It shipped on the 26th November. The courier finally tried to deliver it on the 8th December, nobody was in. My girlfriend phoned the courier, and they said they couldn't try to deliver again until the 15th. On the 15th I took the delivery, and dumped it on my girlfriend's bed without paying much attention to it (I knew it was a present, but didn't know what it was, or who it was from).

Later on in the evening my girlfriend went to wrap it and then went ape ****. She'd been sent a different product, in a package addressed to someone with a vaguely similar name (same forename, different spelling, different surname, but same initial). It should have gone to Nottingham, and we live in Coventry (Nottingham's over an hours drive away). So instead of a wireless keyboard, we got..... iPod socks! Not really a fair trade.

I phoned apple, told them how useless their courier was, and said we were very dissapointed, that the surprise has been spoiled now because my girlfriend had become so frustrated with the whole situation that she'd told me about it. The Apple Store for the UK is based in Ireland, and the guy I was speaking to kept saying "Oh God" in an Irish accent - he sounded just like Father Dougal from Father Ted for anyone whose seen it .

He said we could keep the iPod socks, and he'd send another keyboard priority delivery. I was very pleased with the service. On the downside I've just discovered that the new keyboard is coming using the same courier as the first one, so I won't hold my breath when it comes to getting it in time for Christmas .

how did you girlfriend not know right away that their was no keyboard in the box?

it's not like the socks are packaged in something that could pass for a keyboard.

and you and your girlfriend sleep in separate beds?

My girlfriend was at work when I signed for it. When she went upstairs later she obviously realised as soon as she saw the package that it was too small.

We rent the house between three of us. Me, my mate and my girlfriend. We pay equal rent, and have a bedroom each. I have all my stuff in my room, which just has a single bed in it, that I don't use. My girlfriend has a bigger room with all her stuff in it, and a double bed, which we both sleep in.

How all of this is relevant to Apple's UK courier being completely useless, I'm not quite sure.
