I was just watching FoxNews, and they were talking about iPods and saying how it was the hottest gift this holiday and how it was sold out at amazon, and some other places. Apple's expecting to sell 4 million this holiday season.

They said amazon and a few other places, not everywhere. There's no doubt there's a huge demand though.

don't get me wrong, I'm glad they're flying off the shelves, but I've been reading everywhere about this iPod shortage, and I'm hoping these headlines don't turn off potential buyers and make them look for "easier to find" competitors.

Yeah, they had a MP3 player shootout also on the news, and after all the different models were presented, the anchor asked the guest (some pc guy I think) which he liked the best, and he said iPod.

Apple hit a supply wall with the 20 Gigger in Brick and Mortar stores. There's one more shipment of them going out, and not to all the stores. They just can't make enough of them even with the second plant they opened to make them.

I bought a mini yesterday for Christmas. A blue one, in fact. They didn't have all colours, but they weren't sold out. Telstra (telco) were giving them out with phone plans, but you could buy them there as well, so I did.

Guess I'm lucky, I bought a pink iPod mini + arm band as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend today. Well, I suppose that makes her the lucky one. AND, I've loaded it up with her music and made cute playlists for her to find on Christmas morning

Man, this is idiotic.

Anyone can get the edu discounts on Apple.com, just pick a college of your choice. You don't need to give proof.
And it is as (il)legal as you buying and reselling it...

Got a couple of 20 GB HP iPods from my college computer store. The Apple iPods photos were the only left (and some minis).

They're big hits.
-original iMac, TiPB 400, Cube, Macbook (black), iMac 24ยจ, plus the original iPod and a black nano 4GB-

Apple seems to be having problems all over getting enough iPods made... eBay is getting more than retail for Minis!

Just left an Apple store about 2 hours ago and, while the place was jammed with people, there were several large stacks of iPods sitting out. No shortage there... yet.
Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

I went to the Bellevue Square Apple Store 3 days ago. There were a pile of iPods on the shelf and yes I saw some people walked out with the 20GB. On the other side, there was <10 iPod mini in the local BestBuy.
