hope will apple come out a subnote like sony t series with xbrite screen. that will be very portable, even more convenient than the 12"s...
that will be my main reason to switch to sony(though i'm reluctant to do so). been a mac user for too long but current notebook size really weighs me down as i travel alot..
any comments?

i agree. i dont understand it. sure it MAY be useless to have extremely high res on a small screen .. but heck, who said it is default? keep 1024x768 as default on the 12 and let it ramp up really high. *shrug*
and the glossiness / brightness of those panels ...
i still love my powerbook and would trade it based on the screen. the pbook g4 feels so ... go .. well made .. stylish .. it oozes quality. a uprated screen would make it even more so.

I always keep my PowerBook at half-brightness - I don't understand the obsession with super bright screens.

For me the 12" is really as small as I want to go. Anything smaller means that you'd have to have another 'real' machine somewhere else, with all the hassle with file synchronisation that entails.
The 12" is extremely portable, when back home I just plug in a large screen and have all the screen estate I could ever need.
I've already ditched my Palm in favour of a T610 and the PB. For me that's a winning combination.

There are so many things I say "I wish Apple would" and this is probably one of them. I would love the idea of a full blown OS X sub notebook and a headless eMac.
Oh well, perhaps when the market share of OS X grows.

The sub book is cool, so is a 13in widescreen.

I always liked the PowerBook Duo concept myself, but Apple only ever made one model that was even PowerPC-based, and that wasn't capable of booting OSX by any stretch of the imagination. It'd be nice to see it make a comeback, though.
At the same time, Apple tried it, and it failed. There was a reason for that, just as with the PDA. Once bitten, twice shy, I guess.
