minimalistic is very cool when it is a logo like Batman or something but a comedy with a large cast is doesn't cut it.

That airbrushed poster for that Jen+Ben movie that brought in no money. Stupid name and bad acting.

it's fine ... it's a tad plain .. but it conveys a message.
not great .. but not the WORST

No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced.

That's a pretty funny poster.

It looks like the image of the poster was snapped with a cheap digital camera (lens distortion towards the edges).

The poster itself is great IMO.

purple at the top with the image fading into the purple, and some boring fonts with the title.

in my opinion, the worst dvd cover i have ever seen in my life. every time i see it at the videostore i am appalled that someone a. designed this and b. okayed it to be printed.

i am not sure if this is just the region 2 dvd cover, or just the one i saw in south africa (and i think london) or if it is worldwide, but man it is bad.

http://impawards.com/2003/index.html

some funny ones on there, and awesome to browse the whole site otherwise anyway.

And they have this for the Fockers:

http://www.impawards.com/2004/meet_t...kers_ver1.html
http://www.impawards.com/2004/meet_t...kers_ver2.html

edit: oh, and, for the record, it annoys the hell out of me when the names below the picture (if it's an orderly picture, as with Fockers, Usual Suspects, etc) don't match up with the person order. I know, I'm sure it has to do with who gets paid the most but it still pisses me off.

Accept that there is a market for movies that require use of the brain.

Nothing wrong with pure entertainment, mind you, but it ain't everything to all people.

I have to agree on the Matrix one, when I got it I thought how ghetto it looked.

Not only is the poster bad, but it's apparently the worst rated film of all time according to IMDB.

http://www.imdb.com/chart/bottom

Heck, most of the movies on that list I've never even heard of before

All that the studio really cares about is how well the movies does at the box office.

No, they care just as much as how well it will do in DVD sales and rentals.

no, because when i saw the first movie —

I could barely look at the screen because it was PAINFULLY FUNNY.

that picture and minimalist design is IMO appropriate. not the best i have ever seen, but not the worst either.

[casting alba as sue richards is worse imo]

True enough, but I wouldn't exactly call Eyes Wide Shut a real "thinker" of a film: boring sex life? Try cheating!

The Matrix films are great examples of movies which were able to entertain and provoke thought. That said, the Revolutions DVD case sucks.
