My wife purchased me this SkyFi2 XM Radio kit for Christmas. (Pictured on this link here)
http://www.xmradio.com/get_xm/
She then confessed to me that she was going to get me the MyFi portable player (also pictured on the same link) but I told her "don't get me an iPod" (because I already purchased a Photo iPod) and she got confused.
The price difference between the SkyFi2 and the myfi is substantial.
Which would you all get? (She's given me the option of exchanging it for the MyFi).
Thoughts? I have ZERO experience with XM.

I've heard great stuff about the MyFi. http://www.xmfan.com is a good site for checking out the hardware and seeing what people are looking for support on. People that purchase it are really loving it.
I have the SkyFi and love that too, I really am lusting after the MyFi though. I just might buy it using all the Best Buy gift cards I got from various people during Christmas.

I just bought the MyFi radio.
Wow!
I am seriously hooked. I don't know why but the experience reminds me of when I got my first Mac.
XM rocks! Tons of content. I don't know what the reviewer was thinking but there are lots of music channels. My personal favorite is Channel 40 Deep Tracks. But then I'm a product of the 60's/70's so that explains a lot.
But it's truly wonderful to have clear reception nearly all of the time when I travel every week between Columbus and Nashville. AM/FM sucks as far as reception goes. And it's a real chore searching for something decent to listen to.
So at least for me, XM and the MyFi is one sweet combination.
I should have bought it sooner.
One interesting thing I've discovered is that the reception inside buildings has proven to be pretty decent. I listen to it all day at my desk at work. If I've placed it in my shirt pocket there are times when the signal will drop out but once you understand how satellite radio works, you can forgive these occasional dropouts. I know that XM is installing ground repeaters in a lot of places and that has helped. When going through the I-71 tunnel in Cincinnati, I expected the signal to disappear but it didn't! So they have a repeater inside the tunnel.
One satisfied and happy as a clam XM/MyFi user here.

I am surprised you can get indoor reception. do you know if the signal is extraterrestrial or terrestrial?
(I can't even get a signal in my garage.)

It might be a ground repeater in Nashville. I don't know.
It has proven to work well here in Columbus also. I have it in the home dock and the indoor antenna is pointed directly west out of the window (the antenna is actually about 10 feet from the window sitting on a coffee table). I'm getting a 3 bar signal strength which is the maximum shown on the MyFi. It might also be a ground repeater in Columbus. But on the road between Columbus and Nashville the signal remains strong the entire 385 mile trip. I would think that most of that would be coming from the satellite.

Yeah, on an open highway you're all space signal. :-)
I had a hard time in my car (SkyFi2) using the wireless FM modulator. There are simply far too many FM signals here in Atlanta and the sound quality was (to put it mildly) crap!
I purchased the Delphi FM Modulator that wires into the car antenna and paid circuit city to install it. The sound quality is now 1000% better than before. Very clear, very sweet.
My only complaint is that the volume level simply isn't there. On a CD or FM broadcast I can crank it until it hurts my ears, with XM it's not quite that strong. (Even with the audio output turned up!)
The bonus to installing the modulator was that I now have a "line-in" feed for my iPod! Yeah!!
