What do you guys have your light set to?
I am at work and have some Harman/kardon speakers (The only ones I can find here at work) and I notice then when it is playing...I have this tick tick ticking going on behind the music.
I notice that it stops when my backlight is on....Does this make any sense?

Anyway, I have the iPod plugged in so I am not worried about the battery going down, but do you guys worry about the light burning out?
Whats the longest you would keep it on for?

I know this should maybe go to the other forum but I thought if anyone had any idea what is going on with the speakers, you could help me out either way

i keep my backlight on for 1 second at a time. enough time that it keeps it on while im scrolling at night, and turns off quickly so it doesnt mess with the battery life.

normally, i would expect the backlight to make the tick tick sound, but youre saying that the backlight makes it go away? thats weird.

what happens if you listen with just some headphones?

Mine's at 5 seconds.

As to the light 'burning out' - yes, it's possible. Everything has the possibility of breaking. Do I worry about it? No. I'll get to take it apart and try to fix it when it does.

Yeah...Its not the ticking that the iPod dows...it is from the speakers itself....

Thanks for the tips

Based on what I see posted around I think the battery and probably even the drive will go before the light. And if the light goes out it won't be that bad anyway will it except that your ticking will return. Did you figure out what the ticking was?

I love the U.S., but we need some time apart.

The lights are LEDs, which have useful lifetimes measured in years (that's of actual lighting -- the time it's not lit does not count towards the lifetime). LEDs don't even begin to get dim till about 5 years of total illumination, and they don't just suddenly fail: they just very gradually get dimmer.
